Is this a competition to see who can give out the most over the top criticism of a Celtic player ?

*Not related to Armstrong, but is the Wizard Of Oz thread still lurking halfway down the second page because it was only people at the game who know he came on at half time ? :ponder:

I'm not leaping to conclusions but he was bloody rotten last night. One of the worst performances I've ever seen him turn in. It's a shame that his form has plummeted since last season when he was downright inspirational sometimes. I'm not saying he's chucked it but like many last night, he seemed right off the pace of the match. It's not like him and who knows why that is. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that he's off in the summer and that no one will really mind. A far cry from the worry of last summer when no one wanted to lose him.

Incorrect to single him out. There are a host of players off form at the moment and he’s not alone.
Forget his performance last night. Let's concentrate on the effort he put in. Pathetic from any Celtic player. If james Forrest was doing that he would be getting dogs abuse. But Forrest doesn't have his own song or nice hair does he.
We get it. You're not happy and see him as the scape goat but calm down! Calling a Celtic player a coward is pretty poor.

Your user name is scarily accurate.

I like Armstrong but last night he had a real stinker.
Nice to see Brendan thuoght so as well and wasn't prepared to watch anymore at halftime.

I knew very early on in this match when he gave the ball to an Anderlecht player in the first few minutes with a lazy pass that this was not going to be his night, dredful performance.

Hope you told everybody that sits around you.

I don’t necessarily agree with those who are saying he hid.

He was in possession quite a lot but was just really awful with it.

If anyone hid last night it was McGregor. I was amazed he stayed on for 90 mins.

McGregor does less noticeably bad things when having a shocker, but he is still demonstrably lacking in these types of games. Even more than Armstrong in my opinion when considered across the piece.

It concerns me more that he is getting CL starts. His improvement is clear, but I still don't think he is anywhere near good enough to be one of our starting midfielders in the Champions League.

I don't disagree with what you're saying but how do we improve him to CL level without giving him the exposure to it?

He is not capable of it. The ceiling to his ability is cruelly exposed in these games.

We can't use the Champions League as a laboratory to improve players who have not quite got it, just because we want them to get on.

Adopting that approach will only lead to outcomes last night much more often when the club has the resources to do better.

Deserved to get hooked at half time. His failure to retain possession of the ball when its passed to him is frightening.

Hopefully West Brom/West Ham/Burnley weren't watching that last night and we can still get a decent bit of dosh for him in January.

If fans of any other clubs are looking in, I thought he was excellent last night.

Easily worth £10m.

A massive disappointment this season and a big reason why we're nowhere near as dynamic in attack.

effing hell

His form is nowhere near good enough just now but he certainly hasn't chucked it. The vast majority of the squad haven't got near approaching the form they showed last season as individuals and a team. Have they all chucked it?
Pish!

Chasing back and putting the effort in is eff all to do with 'form'
Running beside someone with no intention of putting a tackle in, or allowing someone to turn and run away from you with the ease he was last night, stinks of something else

Armstrong, as has been said, doesn't seem to have the mental strength to play for Celtic.
I know a Dundee Utd fan, who said when he signed for us, that Armstrong would be here a couple of seasons then off to a high end EPL team as that is the level he seen himself at, and had said as much in private.
Good luck to him. Hopefully we get weighed in with a half decent transfer fee
Armstrong's problem last night wasn't his running or lack of effort it was his pish passing.
His lack of running and effort definitely was a problem.

Lacks composure in Europe, treats the ball like a hot tottie, basically played that first half with 10 men last night
