Should have scored that sitter but otherwise I thought he was excellent tonight
Eh?
There was a corner where he just kicked it out of play.

Yes that was annoying but I thought he had a great game otherwise

Usual trotting about in the first half hour then really grew into the game. Should have scored that chance though.

Watching the man rather than the ball and using his weaker foot (?) led to that fluff shot

As the king said at halftime, he should be anticipating and stroking in with his strong right foot, like he would have

I get annoyed at his penchant for trying a flick when taking the ball in is better option, also he needs to learn to be stronger with his body when running and shielding the ball (like Rogic does)
May seem harsh but i do think he is getting back to the form of last season.

Would still punt in Jan if stance on new contract hasn't changed however :arrr:

Floated in and out the game last night night. Better than his usual in Europe.

A mixed bag last night. The sitter was almost as bad an error as the one at the other end which cost us the opener. Worked hard though and made some great bursts from midfield. His passing was OK but not consistently good enough yet at this level.

The main thing that bugs me when he is "off-form" is he doens't look interested. Much like Sinclair, he hides behind players and tends to not get as involved as usual. Part of me can understand that a little, but I still expect every player on that park to give 100% - if he's not gonna do that then he should be dropped until he's willing to do so.

Having said that, he forced himself to play well after a point last night. He was more involved and got himself into challenges and won the ball back a few times. If we're gonna get anywhere we need them all to start with that intensity, not take a third of the game to get into it.

Wouldn't be upset if we sold him in January but we won't get near what we would have in the summer.

Poor miss and horrendous corner aside, a very good performance.

Agree with most of that also mate.

He is a frustrating player cos you know he has the ability.

Missed a sitter, got caught on the ball with a few bad passes but didn't hide and drove us on at times as well as putting the foot in. Still learning at this level and his mentality has been rightly questioned at times but can see that he can play.

I know people are annoyed at the contract situation which I get but the truth is he didn't need to sign any extension and he did even if it was just an extra year so lets back him cos the guy is a good player.

His energy was key in the midfield last night. I actually thought he played well, and we missed him when he was subbed.

CL you really pay for your mistakes - His miss cost us so badly and you must bury them against teams like Bayern - He worked his way into the game and played well but still nowhere near the levels of the second half of last season.

Hopefully he kicks on now.

Missed a sitter but I felt he had a very good game. Energy driving forward is his game and he did that last night.

One corner makes a game didn't you know that?

Armstrong has a target on his back with sections of the support due to his contract situation in the summer.

A Bayern player done the same thing with a corner in the first half. It was a rubbish corner and frustrating to watch but it happens. We hit a few rubbish corners every week.

I like Armstrong and certainly wasn't one of those calling for him to be punted or criticising him when his contract renewal dragged on this summer....but I thought he was one of our poorest performers last night - worked hard and never hid, which was good, but I thought he was well short of his best.
