Could it be that his form last season (and frankly it wasn't all last season it took him a while to come on to a game) was a bit of mirage?
Starting to look like it
Naw, gie the guy a break ffs. He is a quality player who is having a bad spell. He'll come good again.

Looks very leggy, unfocused and well of the pace this season. He does have ability and talent so we should persevere and hopefully he will get back to the form of last year. We can't punt everyone who has a bad spell.
The good spell he had last year was out of the ordinary.

He's been like this since he was 16.

Absolutely. But you'll be shouted down for saying it.
Yes probably because it is bollocks.

Jesus, tough crowd.

Like Ledley, not in terms of ability, but he works very hard off the ball to close down space and make himself available, looked knackered at a point but it's understandable. Nowhere near last season's form but he'll come good again, quality player.

Thought he was excellent today myself. Some great one touch passing and link ups in the first half. Cross for the first goal and the pass to Sinclair in the lead up to the second was top class.

Me too. I think to an extent if he isn't getting on the scoresheet a lot of what he does goes unnoticed. I think his protracted contract negotiations which even when resolved didn't exactly show a huge commitment has also, understandably, clouded some peoples opinions of him.

Apart from a couple, almost every player on the books has been castigated recently on here for various perceived misdemeanors on the park. A stranger dropping in here would never believe we are on a 60 game domestic unbeaten run. No player is immune from criticism after a poor display or a poor spell of form but some of the whingeing is over the top. One or two players in particular are constantly derided to the extent that one error in a match is enough for the "GTF" brigade to come out in force.
It's getting very wearing.

I'm posting this on the Armstrong thread but it could be on quite a few.

I think you are grossly exaggerating any perceived negativity.

Perhaps but obviously I don't think so. Some players need cut a bit of slack when their off form. That's just my thinking anyway.

Generally they are. Saying that someone hasn’t been performing and should be dropped is generally as far as it stretches.

In the case of Armstrong it is a bit different as there are clear doubts over his long term commitment. Even then, I’ve read far worse.
