So this is going to happen all over again next summer? Ah well at least he should have his head back in the game for now.

Two years? He'll be gone in January, or next summer at the latest, then. Which is fine - he can play for a move to a bigger team than the ones he's been linked with, we'll hopefully get good Stuart back for Europe, and we'll get a better wedge.

by all accounts it's a two year extension, which is rather standard?

boy can't do anything right. apparently doesn't want to sign, so he isn't smart enough. he does sign, he doesn't want to be here.

further edit, didn't realise it was actually offical
One year according to Celtic. :suspect:

name the last player that wasn't 30+ that signed a two year deal with us

He will away before next summer
I think this as well. Means we get what we deserve for him when he goes. I'd be ok with selling him in January.

Bit of stability for the next wee while I suppose. Glad he's sticking it out for one more year at least.

Happy with our midfield options now. Time to start strengthening in the other areas that need it.

That's how I see it too.

So essentially this deal takes him to the length of contract that Mackay-Steven signed when he joined at the same time as Armstrong?

Guy obviously not that interested in staying

that sounds like a compromise deal . Perhaps Stuart has seen the potential of Ntcham and Kouassi, and is hedging his bets.
Whatever it is, hope he gets his game head back on and gets back to last season's excellent level of performance.

That'll do. Distraction over for this season. If a big money bid comes in he'll go with our blessing. If he has a season like the one he just had, he'll get in amongst our top earners.

Win - win for both. He looked a bit bored and frustrated against Thistle so time for him put it all behind him. I'm sure he expected more than Swansea to show a passing interest too.

No behind the scenes info, just speculating.

If we get a decent offer in January for him we should punt.

Either he or his advisors aren't that keen on him being here for much longer.

2 years is a tad confusing after all the 6 months protracted is he/will he guff we have had..

Go through the same pish in 12 months? And that will most probably happen.

Glad he is staying but underlying he will move in 12 months.

Puts us in stronger selling position so that's good but shows lack of commitment or a lack of faith in own ability to be a starter from Armstrong

Good enough.

We'll punt him in a year. Meanwhile we keep a good player going forward.

I'll wager he won't be getting as much game time as he did last season anyway, when everyone is fit.

The arrival of Ntcham, Kouassi looking like he'll come good and McGregor improving all the time I think he'll struggle to get back in the side.

I think he's blown it with all this contract nonsense, whether it's down to him or his representatives. He may struggle for suitors if he's not playing every week.

A 12 month extension? I'd punt this fool before window closes.
