Happy about this. Goals from midfield are invaluable and we have a long season ahead with lots of games.

Would imagine he's been told something along the lines of: 'Sign the deal and recapture your form, and if an acceptable EPL offer comes along we won't stand in your way.'

Pleased he's signing, got the potential to be a very good player and has a Lampard-esque quality when it comes to grabbing goals, but he's still got plenty of developing left to do here.

similar age to VVD and Wanyama were. Both player and club need to get at least another good year out of each other to benefit all round, front end load contract and maximise a future sale

Sending him on for the last ten minutes may have been Brendan saying '...here is what you risk giving up, son'.

Rodgers speaking a whole lot more positively about the situation. He'll be signed on by Friday, I reckon. 3 years I'd imagine too.

After tonight, I'm guessing/hoping this process will be expedited.

Is there a place for him ahead of Ntcham, Rogic and Brown? Will be interesting to see.

It's great to keep quality in the squad, but he'll only be the quality we need if he recovers some of the form of the end of last season. Hopefully sorting the contract out will settle him down again, if not, there's always January.

Glad he's staying. Valuable member of the team and an excellent goal threat from midfield.

Fabulous last season, I hope the speculation is finished and he re-signs now. He's a quality footballer.
Brendan will manage the squad and everyone will get game time. We are operating on a higher p!lane now.

Rodgers sent Armstrong a very clear message last night, you're replaceable.

Thats what I thought last night. Armstrong could enjoy a good life somewhere towards the bottom in the EPL right now but he can still do that in a few years, and of he continues his development for another year or two at Celtic he may find his options far more interesting.
