If it's a one year extension he'll be gone in January
He wouldn't be the first player who's signed a contract to help his current club get a better fee. I get the feeling his head has been turned, well and truly, in the direction of some EPL mid-table non-entity but staying put for a while longer seems like a fair compromise.

Good news - hopefully gives him a lift for tonight and we see the Armstrong of last season starting this evening.

With Swansea reportedly willing to offer £6 million it's just as well we didn't accept the mythical £3 million offer from Southampton ;)

Glad it looks like he'll stay

Until 2019 I'm lead to believe.
Not much of an extension. Sounds like a meet in the middle job
Best of both worlds by sounds of it. We're guaranteed a fee and he can crack on in the meantime.
That's my idea of it. Not far from what happened with Petrov (although I think he signed 4 year deal then buggered off).

If he's signing a new contract, hopefully he'll recover a bit of form. Preferably tonight

Much prefer that to being back in this situation in 12 months time. If he chooses to go next summer (as he may very well) then we should get something more akin to his actual value. Win/win, happy with that.

Nah man. He doesn't even need to have products in it so that's gone nowhere.

He'll be a silver fox
