He hasn't won the CL or EL yet.
Hahahaha! You think we can win either?
Of course. Couple of smart signings and we would (with a bit of luck) have a team capable of winning the EL.

He'll get north of 50k if he does go.
Doesn't mean he's worth it. Many players in England are earning more than they're worth, we shouldn't try to compete with them.
I'm not saying he is worth it to us, but it the context of that league he is.
London is an expensive city , close on 60 grand a week would make it comfortable (even with Remy on your case again)
;)
Only way I see him staying is if we firstly qualify for CL then agree to him getting a slice of any future transfer fee.

He's not worth doing that for either IMO. Make a rod for your own back starting that. If we have to take the hit on this one, so be it. We'll still make money on him and hopefully get a better replacement.

No, don't agree with you. I think we are very far away from getting to a Euro final.

I have absolutely no knowledge of what he is currently paid or what has been offered

but lets take two figure mentioned on here ..£15k a week and £45k a week

assume a three year contract and do some very rough arithmetic..

£15k a week means you earn roughly £2.34 million over the three years...assume 40% tax deducted...actual total income about £1.4 million over those three years...I am happy to accept that even on those figures he will hardly be starving

however, £45 k a week means just over £7million earned....after tax that's £4.2 million in your account over three years

how many of you would turn down an extra £2.8million in your hand over three years

as his lawyer/agent, how can you possibly advise him to knock that back too?

Possibly one way of doing a deal for him at Celtic is you offer him a signing on fee equivalent to the difference and treat it as a "transfer fee"? ...can that be done?...would Celtic contemplate such a deal?
Agreed. If that is the difference between what we're offering him and what he could get elsewhere then its a no brainer. You're set up in a way that should mean a very very healthy lifestyle.
15k a week doesn't give you a healthy lifestyle?

If he wants to go to West Brom and rot as a DM while battling relegation then good luck to him. I'm sure he can use the spare 20 quid notes he has lying around to wipe his tears away.
He won't be in the poor house whatever he chooses. However if the West Brom story is true he will be set up for a life in a way that he won't be at £15 per week.

Indeed. Morecambe Bay winkle pickers are on better rates.

Absolutely. He might 'rot' like James McCarthy has. If he can keep the form of the last 6 months he'll do well in England. Adaptable game too, could step forward in a better team.

He was very complimentary about Kris Commons.

We have lots of midfielders. McGinn would struggle to get on our bench.
