I have absolutely no knowledge of what he is currently paid or what has been offered
but lets take two figure mentioned on here ..£15k a week and £45k a week
assume a three year contract and do some very rough arithmetic..
£15k a week means you earn roughly £2.34 million over the three years...assume 40% tax deducted...actual total income about £1.4 million over those three years...I am happy to accept that even on those figures he will hardly be starving
however, £45 k a week means just over £7million earned....after tax that's £4.2 million in your account over three years
how many of you would turn down an extra £2.8million in your hand over three years
as his lawyer/agent, how can you possibly advise him to knock that back too?
Possibly one way of doing a deal for him at Celtic is you offer him a signing on fee equivalent to the difference and treat it as a "transfer fee"? ...can that be done?...would Celtic contemplate such a deal? We have a replacement. Hes not worth £45k a week.

I see similarities in this and Stefan Johansen's exit last year. I imagine he'll go without much fanfare after the Astana games.
Except Armstrong is three times the player. We'll miss Armstrong as much as we missed Johansen.

We'll miss Armstrong a lot more than Johansen. Initially anyway. We'll be all right.

Agreed. If that is the difference between what we're offering him and what he could get elsewhere then its a no brainer. You're set up in a way that should mean a very very healthy lifestyle.
15k a week doesn't give you a healthy lifestyle? If he wants to go to West Brom and rot as a DM while battling relegation then good luck to him. I'm sure he can use the spare 20 quid notes he has lying around to wipe his tears away. He's won everything there is to win here.

We have a replacement. Hes not worth £45k a week. Or anywhere close. Maybe half that, at a push, after another good season. Unless you're Peter Ridsdale of course.

He's no Armstrong replacement. Completely different players. Armstrong doesnt always play in the same position. This idea that someone has to be replaced by an identical player doesnt make sense. We gave adequate replacements to set out as we normally do without Stuart. We've seen that this season already. He wont be missed except by the tricophiliacs.
