Just sounded to me like Brendan was sending the board a message.
It certainly reads that way. "Stuart wants to be at Celtic"... "Could have been sorted 6 or 7 months ago"

According to Brendan this isn't down to Armstrong.
Do you not think the board will meet with BR and ask what he thinks he's worth? Obviously they might not agree but if SA wanted 30k a week and BR thought he was worth it, he'd get it surely? It seems unlikely that BR doesn't have control over what he spends his budget on in terms of first team fees / salalries.

Wouldn't surprise me to find out he was another Telfer.

Not really bothered about football, just a career to make as much money as possible as he has a talent for it.

Never has and never will be a Celtic fan. To expect any less than what is the best for him is just a waste of time. Punt!!!
It's a short career and who would grudge them getting a fair wage when they renew a contract?

We would all do the same in his position. He's not once gone to the media Moaning like some of the other chancers we've had in the past so no axe to grind with the guy at all.

As long as he's punted by end of the month if he doesn't sign a new deal then we can't complain.

Fully agree. Really want him to stay, but he's conducted himself well and it is a short career so if someone is willing to pay 70k then fair play. Be gutted to see him leave but I'd wish him all the best.

This has dragged on long enough.

Make a final offer. Take it or leave it.
This could be from June.

Sounds like the board aren't paying what he's worth.

He isn't able to talk to clubs until Jan.

So if what you're saying is true, we must have accepted an offer for him.

He could have been tapped up, but no way is he worth that PW.

Crazy money. I'd still rather earn enough to keep me for the rest of my life at a club with European football than EPL also rans, but maybe he sees it as a shop window.

Nah mate. Clubs can talk to agents as much as they like about possible deals and what it would take to get a player in a contract.

The way this has went (and with Brendan phasing in Ntcham), I'm guessing we're seeing Stuart's last few weeks in a Celtic strip.

Likely he'll be oot the door after Astana 2nd leg.

That is kind of my thinking. Stuart Armstrong could stay at Celtic and have a very rewarding football career and retire a very wealthy man.Or else he could go to England and make an awful lot of money over the next few years.

Unfortunately it's his choice and not mine.

Lets be honest, if someone offered to treble/quadruple your wages, we'd all take it.

apparently a £10 million lump sum bonus at the end of his 2nd year with them as well if he goes.

I seem to remember there was a bit of a stand-off between Celtic and Henrik when his first contract was coming to an end. Sure I remember that MON was left on the sidelines during the negotiations as I could almost swear that MON was in the press urging the board 'to pay him what he's worth'.

That last bit is highly dubious. That would mean he would be getting £15M for the two years of the contract. That works close to £150,000 per week which is double what most Spurs players get.
