He's a good player, who's just had the best six months of his career. He will be a loss, but certainly not a major disaster. It needs to be resolved in this window: if price if £3m, we take it and reinvest (its two-thirds of Ntcham's fee covered). Edited by oneillsrevolution, 11 Aug 2017, 12:35 PM.

If he doesn't sign a contract within the next 10 days or so we should be looking to punt him. A good player but not irreplaceable, he's had one good season. |

If all we can get for him is £3m then I'd keep him. It would be difficult to spend £3m on a new player and be assured you will get the same level of performance we can expect from Armstrong. Hope he signs a new deal but unless we get a decent chunk of change I'd hold on to him. Edited by McStay_8, 11 Aug 2017, 12:44 PM.

No would rather we had him for another 12 months and him leaving rather than just banking 3m so we could say that is most of the Ntcham fee paid. |

Lawell, rightly, won’t allow Armstrong to leave on a free. If there is an offer of £3M in, and he won’t sign a new deal in next week or so it should, and will be, accepted. The money can be re-invested and there is a massive pool of midfielders out there. Let the scouts find ones in our budget range. |

I can understand this to an extent but now and again we need to send out the message, that we won't be taking for mugs and robbed blind. 3m for one of your best players, who has just entered the last year of his deal. Another 2m on top and I'd punt but that price for Armstrong is way below his valuation imo and we should play a bit of hardball. |

If £3m is the highest bid, that is his valuation whether we like it or not. He has two caps, did very little in the CL and was pish against England. He probably isn't rated that highly in England. |

Agreed. Hard to stomach but there you go. We should have added an option. Lesson learned and move on. |

Sell him for £3m but put a clause in giving 100% of the profit of any future sales to Southampton. Then we can loan him back to us for a small fee (say, £3m) allowing us to utilise him in the coming season. That way both sides benefit, least of all Stuart Armstrong. |

Nah, don't agree with this. We have a pretty able replacement in Callum McGregor, so our need to keep him is not desperate. We may as well take the money. |

Think this will depend on whether we qualify for the group stages. If we qualify, BR might decide he would rather have the player over the money. If we don't qualify he will be away before the stadium lights are switched off in Astana |

a year ago, if anyone offered us £3m for Armstrong, there'd have been a queue of willing supporters wanting to drive him south. Funny old game football. |

If you don't sell for £3mill your equivalent cost for keeping Armstrong up until the point he leaves, for free, will be upwards of £100k p/w. Hair obsessed preference or not, he's not worth that. It's not a Larsson situation where you've had 7 years of fantastic service. If the player isn't critical to the team you sell at the price the market is willing to pay. |

Exactly, you can't win them all and we generally do well, just bad timing. Not even that we're 'losing' - just not gaining as much as we could have / usually do. |

IMO the only player in the team right now who hasn't picked up where he left off last season. It' not rocket science to predict that his heads just not where it needs to be. If the offer's there and his heart is set on a move south (going by BR last comments that appears to be the case), punt. |

Think fair to say we have had enough of this now for the last few months. In football circles they always tell you “these things take time” when managers are asked however length of time & uncertainty, it is now getting a tad silly & ridiculous. I’m same as most on here good 7/8 months out of last 2 years does not merit Celtic greatness. He played really well after Christmas last season but is not irreplaceable. Time to go Stuart… it has been good for a time. Punt now. |
