Why do we think we're getting a big fee for him in the last year of his contract? If folk are are suggesting values of 7.5 and upwards, how much would we be expecting to get if he had 2 years left? 20m?
Andre Grey went for 18.5m, in his last twelve months, 3m is a effing disgraceful offer.

3m
We should really dig our heels in with this one to show that we're not going to have the p taken out of us.
I'd rather keep him for the next year than accept that.

£3m  he'd be more value to us letting his contract run down and leaving for free. BTW I think he'll disappear if he goes down south just now. He's another season away from being ready.

If the board allow him to leave for 3m they are mad. Worth far more than that.

May as well get another season out of him and run his contract down if 3m is all that's being offered.

I'd take £3m and 100% of the profit on his next transfer. ;)

£3m is pushing it, purely planting an idea in Armstrongs head not to sign a new contract and join them on a Bosman. I think we'd happily take £5m for a player who's had a good 9 months and going into the last year of his contract.

It's only business, don't take it personal. ;)

They're trying to get best value for them, as we do when buying. They've given us good value recently, best money we've ever had in from anyone, ever. Obviously they might want to not piss us off in case there's another VVD available next year. Though the way he's behaving currently, that's maybe why they are offering low.

We dont need him, we have adequate alternatives. £3 million is shampooe but I'd take it and put it toward a CB. A decent sell-on deal would be good.

SOUTHAMPTON could make a £3million bid for Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong before the transfer window closes.

The English Premiership side have moved to the front of the queue in the fight to land the Scottish international.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to keep the 25-year-old, but both sides are still well apart in their negotiations over a new deal.

Armstrong has kicked on under Rodgers and knows he is in a strong position with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

He can then leave for nothing and could earn three or four times what is being offered by the Scottish champions.

West Brom and Everton are among other clubs monitoring Armstrong’s situation.

Celtic are still hopeful of getting Patrick Roberts back on loan from Manchester City.

The English Premier League side are concerned that having already spent 18 months at the Hoops, Roberts would gain little from returning and would prefer him to go to Southampton.

Could which basically means there is no substance to this story but we had to make something up.

I think like Forest last year there is no real interest down south for him as if there where there would have been a bid in for him by now.

He had a good 6/7 months last season and apart from the Killie game has not really stood out yet this season.

Hopefully he will see sense and realise that like Wanyama he can get a transfer if he has more that just a decent half season and sign a new contract.

No one was willing to pay more for them when they went. If Liverpool had offered £40m for VVD at the time he would have went there.
