doesn't offer anything out wide, wouldn't quite write him off based on playing out of position but a good player should be able to adapt

Not out of position, and his performances in the middle have also been rubbish.

Are you saying his natural game is to be on the wing? If he's a winger i'm Franco baresi.
Ffs. How many "wingers" exist nowadays? There are midfielders and strikers who play the role asked of Armstrong. Hardly any genuine left footed winger on the left or right footed winger on the right. Their jobs are to create space for the overlapping fullback and chip in with goals as they are pulling inside onto their stronger foot. That Armstrong has had a poor spell isnt down to him not playing in his correct position, he played there a lot for UTD, or him not being a winger. It's down to him having a poor spell of form. No excuses.

He played there plenty of times for Utd.

When he's had the chance to play centrally he's been poor.

Players like Armstrong are exactly what's wrong with this Celtic team.

All tidy footballers when the goings good and your 4-0 up at home to Partick thistle or the likes. But when the going gets tough they're far far too soft, spineless lack leadership and have no experience of what's required.

You could add at least 6 or 7 players into the same bracket. It's embarrassing.
I've been a huge fan of Armstrong since he signed and still am, but this point is very hard to argue with.

I think he's got a lot of positive qualities and looks great when he's on form, but like most of our team and indeed our manager, he falls to bits when things aren't going well and it becomes like playing with a man down.

I hope we don't give up on him just yet because he definitely has quality and perhaps that bit of extra mettle will come with experience/better management, but to call him a confidence player would be a massive understatement.

I think that's pish. Has looked a better player in the middle than out wide. Doesn't have the pace and mobility for a wide player.

Didn't see today's game but Armstrong just hasn't impressed when played centrally for us. He's often not impressed out on the left but there are times when he has.

I think RD wants to play him as a no. 10 but he's not done the business when he's had the chance

Even though he said before signing him he was like Muller cutting in from the side?

Oh right, would that be why he was 'trying' to run past the full back to the by line and cross?!

He didnt get a game in the Scotland U17 team for the reasons you've outlined in your post.

He's had 6 or 7 years to sort that and still hasn't.

Poor. He really needs some shooting practice, how many times does he cut in and blaze them over the bar?
