I really hope we haven't lowballed our offer to him.

If not, then I can't get my head around his decision to wait until January because there's literally no reason to play him over Ntcham now since he's working his ticket.
He's fulfilling his contract, as I'm sure we wish all other players to do also.

As I said earlier in this thread, he'll be rightly requesting wages for what we value him at.

We can't have it both ways. He's a 30k player and we should pay it.
I do not think he is worth 30k on the back of less than 1 good season. These numbers that are thrown about make people think 30k is feck all, in real terms it is about 3,000 season tickets worth of cash

Joined us to get more money than he was on at Dundee Utd and is no doubt aware of the uplift he'll be able to get as a soon-to-be free agent in January. We take advantage of situations like these so it's hard to be too bothered when it's the reverse.

Either sell (preferably - then reinvest) or he stays and runs down his contract which would/should result in reduced playing time as alternatives are given the opportunity. Not an unusual situation in modern football but of course a poor performance or two from the player, that the support knows wants to leave, can makes things a little tetchy.

How much would you sell him for? Also, 6% of our yearly season ticket money to keep an an improving and influential player doesn't seem too much given that it isn't our only means of income.

He's doing a Maloney -- madness to think otherwise.

He's been terrific since coming on as a sub in the first zombies game but he might not be as smart as he thinks he is. If he doesn't sign, playing with the stiffs is not the only option. He could easily find himself behind CalMac and Olivier as first pick and spend the next year on the bench making occasional 10-minute cameos. How much would he earn in England if that should pan out? More than his new offer, probably, but not the money he thinks he's worth. He thinks he has four aces but Celtic have a flush.

Would need to be a straight or royal flush to beat 4 aces mind.

I do not really want him sold but that is down to player and club. If he had shown the form of recent months since joining us then I can see why you think he could be worth 30k but he has not. 20k max for me.

If he waits til January we could just keep him on the bench and he'll have no mega offers by then, so he can either go to some shampooe team or sign up. eff letting him take us for a ride, 12 months ago i wouldn't have been surprised to see him loaned out to Aberdeen, now he's Scotland's best midfielder and could be a key player in the CL this season. Brendan has resurrected his career, am i wrong in thinking Stuart owes it to him and the club to sign a new deal?

:worthy: Brilliant.

If my job was a player for Celtic, one of the perks would be the atmosphere.

Still, get the point about earning money. No real issue with Stuart wanting to leave, just wish he wanted to stay. :(

He was excellent for 3/4 of last season, prior to that I doubt anyone would have cared if he'd left. I know he owes us nothing but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I really don't want this dragging out to January, hopefully we can get him out the door before then and try a get a few quid in.

It's not as simple as that. He finally started to show his potential last season, it makes no sense not to continue that for another year before exploring his options.

Doing it the way he is right now just means he'll stagnate at a crucial stage in development if we drop him over this.

If he wants to run down his contract we can't do anything about that.

Leaving him out the team won't have any impact on the teams willing to sign him.
