As I said earlier in this thread, he'll be rightly requesting wages for what we value him at.

We can't have it both ways. He's a 30k player and we should pay it.
Not in Scotland he isn't.

Brown isn't even on 30k per week and he's worth far more to the side than Armstrong.
Brown signed a new contract in 2014. He'll have a yearly wage rise in his contract and is probably creeping over the 30k mark.

When Brown signed his contract he was at the upper limit. Dembele and Sinclair are on more than him now and paying Armstrong 30 grand a week and tying him down to a 4 year deal is an absolute no brainer.
Armstrong needs more than 6 months of good football to deserve 30 grand. In Scotland anyway.

pretty sure browns last contract signed was on less than he was previously..a fair bit off 30k right now..

i dont believe the problem with armstrong right now is purely financial either

Was Ledley not offered reduced terms?
No
yes he was, massively reduced and he didnt want to go. he still fully believed they would reach a deal until he was told he would be completely frozen out unless he moved before the january window closed

I'd agree with that.

Obviously the money is a factor, but I think Armstrong wants to test himself at a higher level.

There will also be a bit of fear in play here. He'll know that a duff season like the 2 previous to last season and his next move will be to Aberdeen.

If Brown signed for reduced terms then fair enough

30k is a total hypothetical figure - Armstrong could probably command that down south and even more as a free agent.

I think anything in the 20k to 30k region is worth the risk if money is the driving factor.

If Armstrong wants to play outside Scotland then i'd rather we got the answer now than have it drag on until January.

I really hope we haven't lowballed our offer to him.

If not, then I can't get my head around his decision to wait until January because there's literally no reason to play him over Ntcham now since he's working his ticket.

No he wasn't. He was offered an extension of his current deal. He didn't even reject it, he just didn't respond to it at all. He wanted out, but on his own terms. So we sold him, rightly so.

I'm new. Be gentle.
I think the solution is quite simple really, if the club values the player at 20-25m then pay him the salary that goes with that price, if the club doesn't want to pay the salary then sell.

I thought brown was on around 25k per week

There's been murmurings about Armstrong being unhappy with the length of contract being offered. He only wants a 2 year deal - allegedly

The Wales international has entered the final six-months of his contract at Celtic Park and is yet to agree to an extension.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon was desperate to keep Ledley, 27, at the club, but has reluctantly accepted an offer in the region of £1m from the Eagles.
“A bid from Crystal Palace for Joe Ledley has been accepted”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon
Lennon said: "A bid from Crystal Palace for Joe Ledley has been accepted and it's now down to Joe & his representatives.

"Our contract offer was there for a long time. We made Joe an offer but they weren't forthcoming & now the ball's in their court."
