This fact? If that's what he's planning we need to get rid now.
Depends what you mean by facts. He could change his mind tomorrow.

He is 100% being advised to sit it out till January though.
Then my guess is we'll be seeing an awful lot of Ntcham & Benyu will get more gametime than he thought.

If he wants to sit it out then we don't have much choice in the matter.

He signed a contract and is entitled to let the contract run to its conclusion
That's correct but the club is also entitled to tick him in the reserves or stand for the next six months!
We now have several midfielders competing for a couple of spots and Mr Armstrong might see his perceived value fall when he's not in the side!
The club need to realise whatever we can rather than see him leave for nada!

If he's purely money motivated, or just determined to have a crack in the EPL, then smart thing to do here is offer him a contract at the top end of what we can afford and at the same time make an agreement with him and his agent that all parties will be open to him being marketed (touted around) English clubs as this season progresses and we won't stand in the way of any bid that comes in as long as it's a fair offer for a player under contract. He gets to play on in the CL and showcase his skills/continue to develop, we get a better fee for him when he goes and he picks up a better wage in the meamtime. This seems a better way forward for the club and the player if there aren't any big clubs in for him at the moment, which there doesn't seem to be.

If he goes on a free he will probably be able to negotiate a much larger signing on fee/wages than he would if he is transferred with a high wage/ long contract.

If he goes down south he'll fade into obscurity fairly rapidly. He's found a role at Celtic that suits him perfectly and he thrives in. He'll be lucky if he has the luxury of being handed the same role at Southampton or wherever.

If its true we have offered £15k per week to one of our best players, a midfielder who scored almost 20 goals last season, then that is quite depressing.

He's had one very good season and they're offering to double his wages.

He has generally planned to be for the off when he completed the degree. Luckily the new manager has raised his value.

If he's planning on hanging about he's taking a giant risk. A bad knee injury or ankle and he's sitting on nothing.

It's also a 100% rise for 8 good months.

If he makes the wrong move to the wrong team Preston on loan beckons. He should think long and hard.

He is, but it will leave a bad taste in the mouth. A shame, the season he's just had has raised his stock among the Celtic support, that could all go west if he sits it out until he can sign a pre-contract in January.

It's bold move to sit it out. We just bought 2 players that can play in his place. Even without meaning to be vindictive were better off giving them game time than to someone who doesn't want to be here.
