The disappointing thing with Armstrong is, when you sign a Scottish player from a domestic side you tend to assume that they'll be happy here forever.

John Collins is probably the last one who I was sad to see go.

Even of the players we've produced ourselves, I wasn't bothered about Maloney going and the time was right for McGeady to go. This one just seems a bit premature.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record - he's not daft.

Most Celtic fans would have been happy for him to get punted this time last year, he has won every honour in Scotland, he has had a call up for Scotland and apparently there are clubs in England prepared to pay this guy (who is not as far as I know a Celtic fan by birth) about £40-50k a week.

Things can change very quickly in life and I'm not surprised he looks to be offski. Would have liked him to stay but we need to be realistic.

My biggest fear is we don't cash in this window.

No player likes to be hacked, but I did wonder from Stuart's yellow-card reaction whether he had a move in his sights and saw it flash before his eyes. Really would love him to stay, but something in the back of my mind thinks he's gone. Nothing will be announced until after the qualifiers, so the longer it goes on without a settlement, the worse it's going to look.
Thought the exact same when i saw his reaction.

Might just have been that he had just been done a few minutes earlier though. Especially when the game was almost finished.
What a lot of nonsense
Glad to know you can read his mind.

The biggest challenge for Armstrong right now is not whether he can go to England and make a fortune at a relegation fodder club but whether he can build on his form from last season at Celtic.

All this pish about 120 pay checks left. If he signs a new deal now and has another outstanding season at Celtic what'll he be able to get next season down south?

Guys like Armstrong rally need to consider these things before looking to "better" themselves, otherwise he'll just be another EPL Scot at Wedt Brom or Stoke and in four years time when he's not playi in Europe again or even sniffed a trophy he'll be back up the road to play for Aberdeen or Hearts.

EDIT: maybe it's cos I'm a Celtic fan but guys should be making sure they leave Celtic considered a great player not just giving two or three up and down seasons.
If it's pish, take it up with Brendan.

Whit? You've "thought the exact same" as a post which surmised that because he reacted badly to a terrible tackle on him, that this reaction was maybe down to him having "a move in his sights?!"

That a more plausible explanation is not simply just that he was angered by a ridiculous lunge on him late in a competitive CL qualifier game that might have injured him and put him out for a while? I'd ask you to watch the tackle again, not his reaction to it. The vast majority of players would have reacted in the same manner.

Can only assume Lustig is for the off as well then given the way he charged over to remonstrate with the referee following Griffiths booking. No thought for how ridiculous the decision was, clearly he is working his ticket.

It's ultimatum time.

Make the offer, 7 days to decide then we can all return to low-level insanity in here.

Personally I'd let him go for the reported fees being touted (£6-8m).

According to reports on here the new guys are more than capable of filling the void.

If he does leave, it wont be until after our Champions League fate is sealed.
And if he does then good luck to him.
If he doesn't, then all the better for us.

Aye, let's run our transfer strategy based on idiots on a football forum and their need to return to low level insanity from self-induced throbbery based on not a lot.

If he is going, maybe keeping him for the CL qualifiers might be a better idea, even if it means some folk having to sort their effin' lives out? Even if he signed tomorrow, the bawbags of the transfer windows will just move on to something else to fulfil their needs. Best keep them in here so we know where they are. ;)

Suggestion for the running of the club's transfer strategy only. The running of the forum is perfect as it is.

Brendan obviously wants him for the Champions league ties and to retain the league.

Midfield of

Brown Armstrong

New signing Rogic/Ntcham Sinclair

That's a very strong looking 5

If he hasn't signed a new deal by second last week of transfer window we should be looking to punt him.

This argument has been done to death on here, and I know he is within his rights to look after his interests, but so do we. There will be clubs interested so we should look to sell him.

For talking sake if he is here in January and hasn't signed a new deal we probably won't punt him.

No team will want to pay decent money to take him straight away when they can wait until end of season and get him for nothing.
