I like Stuart and think he could have a bright few years ahead if he remained under Brendan's guidance. If he wishes go abroad or down south for a few extra £'s good luck to him.

We've replaced better than him before life goes on.

That's about my take on it as well.

I'd like him to stay but if he goes he goes an we move on.

So he'd only 120 payments of 25 grand left if he were to stay with us? Poor Armstrong.

I get folk will leave for a variety of reasons but really don't understand the idea that we need to empathise with these already extremely wealthy footballers wanting to line their pockets, particularly in this case when Armstrong has been here for 2 & 1/2 years and has been pretty pish to average except for the last 4-6 months and the initial 1-2 months.
No-one "needs" to empathise, but it's fairly obvious that most people would leave their jobs if offered that % pay rise, particularly with the opportunity of further significant increases.
It's a bit different for professional athletes though. It isn't like leaving Sky and going to BT.

If true and he is leaving he should be nowhere near the squad for champions league qualification we need players who are 100% committed to Celtic and would imagine Brendan wants that to do if we get through and play say Rosenberg then I would expect him to be replaced in the starting 11 in such a vital game which guarantees European football till xmas.
He's a professional player. I think we'll let Rodgers decide if he's committed to playing while he's still here. The managers job is to field the strongest Celtic side he can, right now Stuart Armstrong is one of the first players on that team sheet.
i agree to an extent but if he has made up his mind to leave then is he gonna be fully committed to a 50/50 or other instances during a match if there is a chance an injury would scupper his move ? ..he may be professional but being professional is also one of the main reasons why he is considering moving on..
That's what I was trying to get at should have explained that one better.

This whole episode shows he wants to go at some point. If there is interst id give him what he is asking for then get rid for a big transfer fee.

You could argue the same kind of thing when a player has a world cup coming up for his country.

Judging by Friday night's match, I am not too concerned over Armstrong's commitment. If there is a hint that he's not focused then Rodgers will have him out the team. Any lack of commitment would probably show in training as well.

No player likes to be hacked, but I did wonder from Stuart's yellow-card reaction whether he had a move in his sights and saw it flash before his eyes. Really would love him to stay, but something in the back of my mind thinks he's gone. Nothing will be announced until after the qualifiers, so the longer it goes on without a settlement, the worse it's going to look.

No really, overheads are proportioned out as much as income.

As we stand just now losing him would be a big blow
His drive and goals have been outstanding since BR took over
hopefully he stays and it's just his agent testing the water for the future

Thought the exact same when i saw his reaction.

Might just have been that he had just been done a few minutes earlier though. Especially when the game was almost finished.

Think you two are overlooking things. The reaction was simply to do with the nature of the challenge. Don't think his future being here or elsewhere was relevant.

Yep, that is mad

He was rightly angry as it was a terrible tackle. Pretty sure any other player in our team would have done the same.

The disappointing thing with Armstrong is, when you sign a Scottish player from a domestic side you tend to assume that they'll be happy here forever.

John Collins is probably the last one who I was sad to see go.

Even of the players we've produced ourselves, I wasn't bothered about Maloney going and the time was right for McGeady to go. This one just seems a bit premature.
