No, never known a player to pay an agent.
You must be young then. Or never heard of (or had dealings with) Jim McLean.

On the subject of agents...jum McLean daily record around 99/2000

Quote:

is only right that I name some of the men I believe from my experience have not always only had their clients' best interests to the fore.

The first one is Mr Goody Two-Shoes Gordon Smith.

Smith was representing Jason De Vos during the early part of the big man's time at Tannadice.

We were particularly pleased with the way things had been going for Jason in the first year of his contract and were keen to offer him and extended deal.

We didn't think there would be much of a problem because Jason seemed to have settled well and was looking impressive. But we were wrong.

Smith walked into Paul Sturrock's office and asked what would be in it for him if Jason signed a new contract.

Paul said what every manager should say and told him there was no way he'd be getting anything from the Dundee United. The only money he'd be due would come from the player, not the club.

Paul told Smith that asking for money from the club was outrageous, the meeting ended and they never even got round to discussing Jason's contract.

I fear if he moves abroad the humidity will play havoc with his hair. Glasgow is perfect for him. No excessive heat, no UV damage. Good conditions for a luscious barnet

Stuart and his beautiful locks will be starring in the next Tomotei advert in the Campsie Fells waterfall

Rogic fit, a new number 8 signed. Stubo possibly worried he wont get that much game time.

Interesting that's there's been no mention of deals being knocked back or of an impasse.

There's a willingness from both sides to reach an agreement; I think this will come to be the case.

It seems that Armstrong and his agent rejected the terms of the previous contract offer, but haven't come to Celtic with their demands (yet).

Rodgers says that Armstrong wants to stay, so it's probably a money thing. Celtic's four best players last season were probably Sinclair, Dembele, Brown and Armstrong. Spot the odd salary out.

I think he'll stay too though.

That's it though. If he's just asking for parity with Dembele (25 grand?), I really can't see the club not being comfortable with that. He's a saleable asset. Any money they invest they know they'll get back.

Which makes me think he wants to leave or is asking for Sinclair type money (35?).

I thought he was cracking last season and like many on here, I think some folk are underestimating how difficult it would be to replace him. Having said that, Sinclair and Brown are both proven players over a number of years whereas Armstrong has had one convincing season. I don't think he's worth 25k a week just yet.
