Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
There's a middle ground.
We are partially doomed? Worst case scenario is we get a few million for a player that was only a regular starter for a few months. I hope and think he'll stay. I want him to. But he wont be a gaping wound in pur squad the way someone like Larsson was.
No. It'll be difficult to replace a midfielder who scored 17 goals in a season.

Or did we replace him yesterday.
We've been looking at adding Ntcham since January so no, we didn't.

That means absolutely nothing.

We scout players all the time for long periods of time. The reason we do that is so we are up to date on them if ever we want to go and sign them.

Hopefully they'll announce a done deal before the Linfield game. He keeps popping up on Celtic TV clips and Brendan doesn't seem concerned, so hope the big handsome lump signs today!
i'm hoping what you're hoping

A season where we were without a striker for a few games. His going wont cause any major problem for us.

Really don't see what difference that makes.

Canny seem to quote yer post Flawless. He is a good player but he has had best part of 1 season where he has been good and indifferent up until then.

I hope he stays but if he goes he will be replaced with someone of at least similar quality.

Plenty other teams in Europe seem to be thriving without him. It's a mystery!

And with that nonsense I'm out.

Nonsense how? There are teams doing way better than us in Europe with midfielders that cost less than we will get for Armstrong.

It's hardly nonsense to suggest we can pick one up that is better than him for less money than we get for him. Easy? Possibly not. Achievable? Definitely.

Building him up to be impossible to replace is a nonsense.

Armstrong is replaceable. 1 good season does not make a player... he needs to show he can build on what he done last season.

I'm not even sure his place in the team next season would be guaranteed.

More goals came from midfield. He scored 4 the season before that. Statistics, eh?

Hes played well for a few months, has lovely hair, a song. He'll be missed but not majorly.

He wasn't very good the season before that. That's a very simplistic view.

Really hope he signs a new deal. We'd be hard pushed to replace his goals and assists for whatever money we get for him. A player I'd much rather see in the hoops for the next few seasons

Building him up to be impossible to replace is a nonsense.
No one has said that. Absolutely no one.

No one is comparing him to Larsson or McStay or various other superstars we've lost. I've taken issue with the attitude that he's easy replaced when quite frankly it's anything but easy given the current climate, our financial constraints and also the fact some have him already replaced with an unknown 21 year old who couldn't get a game for Genoa.

Of course there are better footballers in the world than Stuart Armstrong, but the point was more he is not 'easily' replaced

The general feeling is that he done very well for us last season and we would all love him to sign a new deal. He has energy, can score goals and also has a bit of dig in him, it's nice keeping a bit of Scottish genuine talent in the team.

In saying that if he does go, we will replace him and move on. We are only going in one direction under Rodgers and that will b with or without Armstrong.

Hopefully he see's sense and gives us another year or two.

We're better with Rogic playing behind the striker. We have McGregor and Ntcham too. Its no disaster IF he goes.

Of course it doesn't. He might be the next Del Piero. He might be the next Juarez.
