The manager is the only person at Parkhead who should even be considered as possibly "irreplaceable".

I like Armstrong, and he was very good for most of the season, but he'll not be too difficult to replace.
It won't be easy.

Not many 17 goal in 3/4 of a season players about.
I think with our style/quality of football we'll always get plenty of goals from a decent central midfielder who can get forward.

Only reason the dons signed GMS, part of their master plan to secure this guy.

Players leave it's no big deal.

His problem if he goes.
He will lose his hair by the time he is 30 .
How do I contact him to save that hair for a cushion?
One minute you're saying his hair ain't all that next you're angling to make soft furnishings out of it

While I agree that is a factor I think you do Armstrong a bit of a disservice, I think his loss will be a big blow - and not just in terms of goals. He has an incredible engine.

Erik's been pushing GMS out of the picture anyway, so there's no worries on that score

Even the MON years when we last matched this team for goal an opportunities. Don't think Petrov ever got near 17 in a season.

Don't think he's an easy replacement.

We didn't play the same style of football then. Arguably we had more difficult opponents too, but that's another matter. ;)

I've watched enough back and forth today with Murray.

I'll let this debate go .

We'll replace him, we've lost far better than Armstrong and still survived.

I'd prefer him to stay but if he is dicking us around then we have to start looking at other options.
Agree with all.

I dont agree though that it'll 'Not be too difficult to replace'.

Boy can definitely play. Knows the league, intelligent and a proper goal threat.
Don't think we've had a midfielder as capable from distance with both feet for a long time.

By now he'll know his worth down south and will be seeing if we can get near it.

Hope we can!

If they are in dispute about money, it'll probaby be over a figure like that.

Unless he's asking for stupid money to force a move.

It really wont be about the difference of the size of GMS's wages.

Yeah we're all well aware of that, just killing time until Friday by debating whether he's staying or not. ;)

Edit: As long as normal Celtic - Soton fee range applies, I'll be happy :)

It would be, but assuming they pay a decent wedge, we'll not only survive, but possibly prosper. He could do very well down there, could be good for both. If we get (for talking's sake) 8m from Soton, we should be able to replace with better and have some change left over. If our recruitment guys are switched on obviously. This is now our model, we need to get used to it. Disappointing when VVD left, Forster, Wanyama. As long as we recruit well we improve.

The difference is we all expected Armstrong's big move to be to us and for him to develop for us.

It's a kick in the teeth but we'll make a substantial profit and if it turns out a few thousand quid was the difference then it's poor from us.
