If he wants to go, he should look to go abroad for a few seasons. Moving to a lower-to-mid table club in England would be a waste.

I hope he stays; there aren't many Scottish players out there with his ability and, off the back of his best season yet, you'd want to see him at the heart of the midfield in future. But, as others have said, he isn't irreplaceable.

If he wants to go I really CGAF where he ends up so long as we get as much as possible for him.

Really wanted him to stay but thought for a while he might be offski - he's not irreplaceable.

That story strikes me as the beginning of the end.

Broony, Tierney, Dembele, Scotty, Stuart.

By my back of a fag packet calculations, I've got him down as our 5th most important player, but the guy just keeps getting better. I hope he signs, I really do. Scottish S*n reporting his agent is making unreasonable contract demands, but considering how much money we've wasted on dross over the years, I'd rather we just pushed the boat out to keep him. He's a proven talent, he's a rising international star and he'll be worth a lot more in transfer £ with an extra 4 years on his contract. Just do it!

He was an average player until Brendan worked some magic on him. I think he should show some loyalty in return, or is that just old fashioned?

There are no quotes in that article AND there's no doubt in my mind there is more this situation than just details of a contract.

FWIW I think he's for the off.
Agree - combination of usual mess up by Lawwell and Armstrong being full of himself is doomed relationship

Armstrong has had 5/6 good months for us and will die a death elsewhere - he's making a mess of his career here

If he goes I'll be bitter, but then didn't we initially sign him on a pre-contract, only for DU to cave and accept a fee in January rather than lose him for nothing in the summer? And this is the club that brought him through their youth ranks. He's shown he's willing to do it before is all I'm saying. I'm not convinced Stuart has much loyalty to anyone but Stuart, but I hope I'm wrong about that.

Whether it's here or elsewhere, I'll be interested to see whether Armstrong can sustain his recent form. I was talking to someone yesterday who has shared a pitch with him several times over the past few seasons, and he says the difference in Armstrong's whole mentality in the past year has been remarkable. Completely focused, absolutely bursting with confidence, and a man very much in control of his own ability. How much of that is down to Rodgers I don't know, but it seems a massive coincidence if it's not. I'd love him to stay and get even better.

No, we paid good money for Armstrong. It was GMS we got at a discount because of his contract situation. That said, Armstrong is well within his rights to be looking for more £££ elsewhere but from a footballing perspective he still has lots to learn and improve on which he could do at Celtic.

Why should he show any loyalty, though, really? He's not a Celtic fan. Fans were slating him to eff all of the 15/16 season (deservedly at times) and most thought he should have been punted. When was the loyalty then? Where was the support for a player going through a bad time? If you want to see loyalty from him now, it should have been shown on our side when he was in the doldrums last season. Two way street, mate.

I'm not even saying he deserved that, but to demand loyalty to someone who was on the out list for most supporters is a bit funny. Hope he stays personally, cracking player, but no hard feelings if he left.

Always felt the Armstrong contract negotiations wouldnt be straightforward. He did come on to good form since nov/dec but dont think he merits being one of our top earners. What would we realistically be offering him per week? And could he get more elsewhere, probably yes.
