DR has quoted Dermot Desmond that players from last season's team will leave but not until after our European qualification and only if the player wants to leave.
Hopefully he means Bitton and GMS.

Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond admits some of champions' Treble winning squad will leave this summer
Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong are among some Celtic stars who have been linked with moves - but the club are under no pressure to sell.

What a non story if ever there was one.

If we manage to tie down Stuart it's as good as a new signing as far as I'm concerned. There are few players we could lose that would hurt us more. Get him paid and get him signed!

£10m is the asking price, even though there is only a year left

If that's the asking price then he's going nowhere!

Snodgrass went for £10m+ with less than 6 months left and im sure McCormack went for similar. Armstrong is younger and is already a better player so hopefully that's Celtics thinking.

No chance we will get it though!!

I'd rather he re-signed as would, judging by his comments, the manager.

Let's hope Lawwell hasn't a'ready fecked it up.

If it's the case, how come GMS was on a four year deal, yet the main target of the double transfer was on three and a half :cuckoo:
Or did Lawwell already have half an eye on Armstrong as a future bonus-ball?

One things for sure, if he goes, he needs replacing, and unlike some on here, i'm not sure his type of midfielder is so readily available.

Armstrong wasn't keen on signing on for that long.

But yeah, Lawwell.

Exactly  That bastard Lawwell.

I think Armstrong has always seen us as a step to something bigger and more lucrative. I may be wrong and he may indeed sign an extension but I've been saying for a while I have a feeling he will be in the EPL soon - call it women's intuition.

Is this what they can't agree on then, stumbling block for length of contract.
Brendan looks to be building a team for the near future & clearly wants Armstrong as part of this - He'd be crazy to not want to be part of this, seeing how far he's come on under Brendan.

CELTIC have warned Stuart Armstrong that they won’t be held to ransom after contract talks stalled.

Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of signing Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham in a deal worth up to £5million.

The Celtic manager is also keen to tie down key man Armstrong to a new long-term contract, but an agreement hasn’t yet been reached.

SunSport understands his agent will need to be more realistic with their demands, though Celtic are aware that English pair Brighton and Southampton are keen on the £10m-rated Scotland midfielder.

Hoops chiefs are willing to sanction a wage rise and an extension for the Scotland star, who has 12 months left to run on his current deal.

They believe they have made a fair offer to Armstrong, whose career has been transformed by Rodgers in the last year after he only became a regular in November.

Talks are likely to resume but Celtic will not be forced into paying over the odds in wages, especially as Rodgers has plenty of options in the middle of the park.

French kid Ntcham is finalising his Celtic move after a medical and teen Kundai Benyu has impressed since joining from Ipswich.

Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor can also play the attacking-midfield role that Armstrong does but Rodgers wants to keep the Scotland international and last week urged him to stay put.

Meanwhile, SunSport can reveal City kid Ntcham’s four-year deal could eventually hit the £5m mark, with a £4.5m fee being paid upfront and £500k in add-ons.

There are no quotes in that article AND there's no doubt in my mind there is more this situation than just details of a contract.

FWIW I think he's for the off.

We should be giving him a deadline and if a contract isn't signed by then looking to move him on. Obviously like the majority of Celtic fans I'd like to keep him and I think he can go from strength to strength under Rodgers but this uncertainty isn't good.

I have my doubts if he would be as effective in Europe (or even in England) as he was in the second half of last season for us.

Pretty sure when he joined us there was a quote from him or Ronny along the lines of having a good couple of years with us and then moving to the EPL. :twitch:
He'll be 26 soon, not old but not getting any younger either. Might be wanting a crack at and a potential good few years in England?

Fine, give him to Fri or Thu and if he isn't willing to sign, then inform others of his availability.

I would like him to stay but he isn't irreplaceable.
