Whilst there is always a chance, I would be very surprised to see Armstrong even contemplate moving at the moment. It's well recognised that he has his head screwed on and also apparent he has a great relationship with Rodgers. Sure he'll sign a new contract when the time is right.

He's on a different level.

Reminds of VVD in the sense that it looks effortless for him.

Not if it's below what he thinks he's worth.
Which is why he hasn't signed the one that's in front of him.
As you say, he's not daft.

Don't want to piss on anyone's chips here, but it appears to me that there's more hope than reality in this thread regarding his current situation.

If any Premier League team is so inclined to bid for him, they'll be able to offer him £30,000 a week minimum without even blinking. You've then got to ask yourself if Celtic would match that.

You've also got to wonder whether Armstrong would accept lower than any bid from England when players like James Morrison, Matt Ritchie and James McArthur are earning £65,000, £55,000 and £50,000 a week respectively.

A player in such form with little more than one year left on his current contract holds many more cards than people seem to be suggesting.

If anyone from the Premier League wants the player - and fair enough, there would need to be some indication that was the case - Celtic have got a massive job on their hands.

Armstrong has been very good since November. That's it.

If he won't sign a new contract by Summer then sell him to the highest bidder.

Bit of an odd logic that. Moussa has only been good in a Celtic shirt since September. Punt him to the highest bidder as well?

Sinclair has been shampoo for a few years, so really he's only been good since August. Forrest too. And Brown. Punt them as well?

I'd rather we kept players who are improving and at least gave us a fighting chance of earning more money in Europe - and even giving us a european run after Xmas in the EL.

EDIT: I guess if he absolutely wont sign a new contract then you are right

Remy has never been keen on the lovely Stuart
Probably cos he's Scottish

I think he's our most important player on current form

Dembele is on a 4 year contract.

Any player who is not renewing their contract should be punted where possible. If Rogers wants Armstrong to stay, then get the deal sorted.

He was also very good against the Huns on 10 September, a bit before November.

He came on after 50 odd minutes of a game we led 2-1 and proceeded to contribute to our other goals, scoring the final one.

Injuries aside, he's been a regular starter since the game after the October international break, all but seven league games of our season. One of those, of course was that Hun game.

It would be idiotic to not make a big play to keep him. Similarly though it seems unrealistic that there'll be no interest in him from elsewhere.

Exactly...which is why I added when the time is right.

The blurb before that was just my rationale for not panicking about the situation like some(not aimed at you).

Ffs, he's done more since September than you goldenbhoy Forrest in about umpteen seasons.

Your logic is baffling. :cuckoo:

Armstrong has been the most improved player this season and hopefully can keep,it up after we tie him down for longer.

You're best ignoring remy, best thing I did on here was blank out his drivel

If Dembele and Griffiths are rumoured to be going, as many on here have suggested, losing Armstrong would be a massive blow. Not sure even Brendan would hang about if the squad was dismantled like this...

Not really - the comment's only relating to how soon it'll be before Armstrong's out of contract and if he's not prepared to sign a new deal then we cash in on him while we can. Same for any player.

It could be a massive blow to lose all 3, but

- Dembele will only go if we get amazing money, £30m+at least
- Griffiths will only go because he isn't getting a game
- Armstrong would only be sold if he won't sign a new contract(presuming there aren't any £10m offers coming in for him), which as he'll only have one year left, would be exactly the right thing to do

We can't cash in on him if he decides he wants to stay until the end of his contract when he'll pick up a huge signing on fee. He's not stupid.

That's his prerogative. It also would be ours not to play him.
