He seems to have changed his posture a bit. A few people remarked earlier in the season that he seemed to be very upright/awkward when running and receiving the ball. Runs a lot more normally now. Wouldn't surprise me if it's something Rodgers and Davies have been working on with him.

Considering retirement

Regardless of his poor form last season, the thing that sets Armstrong apart is that pretty much unlike all other Scottish players his close control technique is remarkably unScottish. He can take a ball in any situation, fired into him, player at his back, but will turn, shield, beat a man and play a measured pass.

Iniesta, one of the all time greats for me, basically made a career out of doing what Armstrong did last night to set up the goal. Took a difficult ball to control, got rid of the defender, moved the ball with both feet through the channel, could see the pass to create a chance and better still had the ability to play it.

Pretty confident there is no other player in Scotland's squad that could have done what he did for the goal last night. Put me in mind of his contribution towards Griffiths first goal at home to Malmo. Although Johansen made the final pass for the assist, it was Armstrong, drive, close control and initial pass that got things moving.

Please get him signed up on a new deal ASAP. We need at least another two years out of the boy.

It's a pity his form deserted him after a good start at Celtic but there were multiple factors working against him there, main thing is he's playing now. Twenty five is a normal age to kick on in the most difficult position on the park and Stu is maturing nicely...Classy, intelligent player, says all the right things to the media and looks the part.

Another player who will be sought after but that comes with the territory, long may the trend continue.

Caused them problems all the way through the match. Completely deserved MOTM and looks like he should be keeping folk who cost a shampooload more than he did out of the team.

I'd guess that his first choice would be to sign a new contract with us rather than look elsewhere.

He still has high ambitions to secure his law degree, although it is unlikely that he will get the chance to practice that, this side of 40. He will not want to interrupt his studies by moving anywhere else at this juncture. I don't know how long he has to go before he qualifies. Hopefully a few years.

It's an Open University course he's doing, in what way would moving affect it?

Change this year has been crazy. From a player who most wouldn't have missed, to one who it's looking like we should build the team around.

Even the difference from the BMG away game. He showed real promise in that game and caused them problems with his running, but gave the ball away so often. An unreal difference from then to now. Looks a very accomplished midfielder at the moment.

Seems to have bulked up upper body too. Doing him no harm in terms of dominating opponents, likely helped psychologically too.

Without going overboard, the set up play last night also reminded me of iniesta. Firstly the vision to see the pass and next the execution of the wee dribble to make space for it is what iniesta does brilliantly.

Glad i'm not the only one!
