Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Too young to know who that would be :ponder: Matthias?
Moller maybe. Same voluptuous hair.
I was thinking more of a composite of that type of player rather than a specific player.

Armstrong hails Brendan Rodgers after Scotland call-up

Quote:

“Since he came in, we had the initial conversation at the start of the season and how he wanted me to go about my business at Celtic,” said Armstrong.

“That really spurred me on and gave me a great platform and opportunity to work my way into the side and play in my favoured position. I owe him a lot for reigniting my career at Celtic.
“I had been named in the Scotland squad a couple of times, first at Dundee United and then at the start of my first full season at Celtic, but I got an injury so that was a bit of a disappointing time. It was very tough to take as I have never been capped before and it was a great honour to be called up, so to decline with an injury was very disappointing.

“It was a bit up and down after that but since the gaffer has come in he has revitalised my career. He moved me into the middle and I have built on that in training, working very hard in training and contributing in games with goals and assists. It’s been a good season of progress so it’s been very nice to be rewarded with a Scotland call-up.”

Armstrong discovered the news of his elevation when messages of congratulations started flooding in from family, friends and his team-mates. It was a proud moment for him. And he can’t wait to join up with the squad next week, where he will team-up with five of his Celtic colleagues, including club captain Scott Brown.

“I’m very happy,” he said. It’s a proud moment for me and my family. My brother and my dad and my step-mum all got in touch which was good, saying they were delighted for me and proud.
“The Celtic boys in the squad sent messages of congratulations and a few other boys, including Andy Robertson, who I played with at Dundee United, texted me as well. It will be great to catch up with him as I haven’t seen him for some time, along with some other old faces in squad. I'm really pleased about it and very excited about meeting up with the rest of the squad.”

Think he's been great since he scored in the 5-1 game in September. Seemed to ignite confidence in him that he lacked before, really kicked on since then.

Of all the players Brendan has influenced I am delighted for him the most. He's had a tough time but is now settling nicely into his favourite. Hopefully he will continue to improve and stay with us for a long time.

The bar was lower in 97/98 as the league trophy was flung between us & Rangers like a hot potato that noone seemed to want.

If it wasn't for Dembele & Sinclair having brilliant seasons, there would be fear on here of Armstrong being the next big player to sold to the EPL.

He's by a country mile the best midfielder in Scotland.

Why is there hyperbole in every player thread on KDS?

Armstrong has been excellent since September, but it's false as well as disrespectful to claim Armstrong is 'a country mile' ahead of Brown.

In the last two games, everything good has come from him. Brilliant player, and it's great to see him take control when the team is low on confidence and/or luck.

Anyone notice the bet365 connection?

Twice in a row now they've give his price in their advert and he's been next scorer.

He had become so ineffectual in possession I used to dread when he got the ball. Since his renaissance he is now THE player I want on the ball. 13 goals from midfield by March in a season where he only nailed down a starting place a few months ago is outstanding.

Most impressed by the variety of goals he has scored. Head, both feet, distance, late runs in to the box. He has been excellent under Rodgers.
