If we continue progressing under Rodgers, Rogic won't be a starting player for European games next season.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
He had a good hour against man city.
So not out his depth then?
So 1 good hour in a full European campaign is a success? Of course it's not.

He's a a very good spl player. Nothing more. That's not his fault and it's not a critism it's just where he is.

He will continue to give us really good moments domestically and long may that continue.

The length some go to defend him is unbelievable. Almost like he is unquestionable

Rogic will get better when the players around him get better. Im not blind to his failings but thought he did okay in fits and starts last night. Like Dembele, at this level, he is reliant on the service from behind him. If the midfield and defence are too busy fighting fires or being too deliberate, or in some cases too slack, with their passing then the oportunity to create something can be lost.

In our formation he is given a lot of freedom and a lot of responsibility. He has talent but at a higher level (and I don't mean as high as Barca) we maybe need someone a bit more dynamic and direct.

I love watching him play and he has moments were he looks absolutely top class but given we can only have one midfielder playing with that sort of freedom I can't help but feel an upgrade may be needed.

It's a difficult one to call.
I'd agree with this. He's a class apart in domestic terms but not good enough for us to complete at this level.

EDIT: Not really sure we could do better either though and if we did that player would be away in a flash. At least Rogic probably won't get any better teams than us after him.

It's a difficult one.

In domestic games where we're the much better team we can afford a luxury player like Rogic. In Europe there are very few teams who can afford to have a player who does so little off the ball (both when they have it and when they don't) and we're certainly not one of them.

Should he be playing in games like last night? I think he's just too slow for them and while he's good on the ball, he's not exactly at Lubo or Naka level.

Potentially one of our best players domestically but just doesn't have the pace (or dynamism a better word) for European games.

Is probably what I try to say but much better put.

He's not out his depth outside Scotland. Had a poor game tonight granted but he generally has performed well in Europe for us and also for Australia on the international stage.
He had a good hour against man city.
He was great v city for 35-40mins then blowing out of his arse

As said above you can't have both armstrong and rogic causing havoc in our ranks in europe - one from too much effort and the other from not enough

especially when brown's has to shoulder all the responsibility as a result of mcgregor being in there too

Pretty much. Get that bastard of a midfielder we so desperately need playing in behind him.

Someone in the Wanyama mould would allow Rogic - and others - to flourish. Easier said than done though, I suppose, unearthing another gem like VM.

Like a lot of the games he has played, he plays well in fits and starts.

Good close control gets you on your feet then he runs into someone, the Australian Sammi?

Everytime I see him starting I know that someone on the bench will be replacing him, only a matter of time.
This really leaves us with two subs to utilise on other areas of the park.

Maybe if this boy Darkington from Portland Timbers comes in it will be bye bye to Rogic?

When he has time and space he is a lovely player to watch, but there were times last night when a lack of heart seemed evident. Lose the ball and take 10 seconds to get back on your feet? WTF? Not good enough for the CL, but still preferable to Armstrong and Bitton. CM is the priority position to strengthen in January and the summer.

Rodgers says he will just get better by playing in games like that.

Anyone using a CL game against Barca as an example of Rogic "not being good enough for Europe" is having a laugh.

I 100% agree he is much better player than McGregor and Armstrong but i just can't get round my head why he can't last a game. His fitness levels must be way below Brown for example as he does half as much work. It boggles my mind.
