I don't think he'll make it.

He's really not sharp enough and dithers on the ball far too often. Doesn't seem to have a clear vision on what he wants to do when he receives the ball.
I agree.

The other thing is the number of players in his position. If he had less competition, he might be worthy of more opportunities, but seeing as we have Johansen, Commons and Armstrong(possibly Henderson as well) who are probably all that their best in that 'No 10 role' and all better at it than Rogic, I don't really see the point in keeping him around.

I'll go against the general grain of this post - after a few games to build up match sharpness I think he'll come good.

I like him he has a lovely touch on him but he does take his time picking out a pass but he needs to go out on loan and be playing 90mins each week, he could be playing Johansens role next season imo. A EPL side could be coming in with a bid for Johansen if he plays like he did last season.

I've always thought there was good potential there with Rogic, he takes up good positions and I thought he looked sharper on and off the ball than a few people are willing to give him credit for.

Needs games and to build his in game intelligence but he has alot of very good attributes. Think there is defo a player there and we should play him a fair bit this season to find out.

I do think he might be better off in alongside Brown or Bitton if required, playing in the "quarterback"/deep-lying playmaker role, allowing Johansen to play in his true position.

Good touch and can see a pass. He is very rusty though.

He has a real lack of pace, which will hinder his progress in this team. I also dont think he can play the sitting role, he played there in one of the games at St Mirren and his lack of pace was really exposed when he had to track back.

Definitely got great feet and seems to get himself into the box in good positions a lot. Lacks match fitness and dare I say the heart to make tackles, so often last night he done that thing of running alongside the oppositions player without wanting to make the tackle.

However if he can get more game time and works on the tackling side I think he can become a decent player for us.

Definitely would like to see him get more gametime to better judge, but i didn't think he looked particularly quick and as soon as brown is back he will be dropped i would imagine.

He's got the talent but would need a run of games to develop properly. Given that Brown, Bitton and Johansen will play if they're fit, I'm not sure how he'll force his way into the team.

Technically good but decision making is suspect, which is normal considering how much football he's played

I like him. Rusty as hell, though. However, it's to be expected given the lack of football he's played in the last two years. Needs regular game time.

There is something about him I like ...He looked a bit sharper especially in the first half than a lot of our players has lovely weight in his passes!

Decent player, not sure he will make it though. Would be good for a championship team or an Aberdeen.

Called up for the Australian squad for internationals V Bangladesh in Perth, and Tajikistan in Dushanbe (yes, this is the standard of opposition we face in our first qualifying round). The travel will be a bit of a test, but it's a better trip for him than Sydney and North-East Asia.

Ex-Celt Jackson Irvine is also in the squad.

Don't expect miracles from Tom Rogic, says Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou is not expecting miracles from mercurial midfielder Tom Rogic, who appears finally over his injury troubles and poised for his first national team cap in over a year.
Rogic has been rewarded for a strong start to the Scottish Premier League season with Celtic with selection in Postecoglou's 23-man squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh and Tajikistan.
The 22-year-old was once held up as Australia's pre-eminent wunderkind, but chronic groin issues over the last two seasons cruelled his progress and forced him to miss the World Cup in Brazil and the Asian Cup earlier this year.
Postecoglou is merely thankful he is able to even select Rogic at all.
"Pretty much since I've taken over he's battled with injuries and hasn't been able to get himself right," Postecoglou said.
"I'm really pleased for him more than anything else that he seems to have his body right.
"He's played a couple of games now, he's in contention, he's had a full pre-season."
But Postecoglou warned Rogic won't be back at his mesmerising best for a while yet.
"He's still nowhere near where he wants to be and hopefully 12 months of solid football this season with Celtic will help him get there," he said.
"There's no real massive expectations from us about him playing a massive role.
"It's just about bringing him into the environment again because he hasn't been in this environment too much."

Reminds me of Bitton in his game and development as a Celtic player. Could prove to be a very valuable assest to the squad and potentially Lawwell's sell high policy too.

Exciting times for Rogic and I hope he fulfills his potential.
