Who would be considered the best Australian footballer ever? Tim Cahill?
He would be a good shout.

Mind when Craig Johnstone was the only Australian player anyone knew?

Bresciano was a lovely player in his day.

Don't think he's quite in Cahill's league, but Kewell was also a very tidy midfielder.

Harry Kewell before he turned to glass. Still did more in his career than Cahill

Personally, I think Kewell and Viduka were better players than Cahill.

If Kewell had maintained the kind of form he had at Leeds he could quite easily have been Australias best ever.

He won the champions league and fa cup with Liverpool and played in a cl semi final with Leeds. no other Australian player I can think of can match those achievements

I must've been watching a different game from everyone else on Saturday.

Thought he did hee-haw. (Overhit pass to Forrest aside)

Vieri and Simunic both Aussies, up there with Bresciano and Cahill. Above them both really but played for other nations.

Think Kewell and Viduka were the most gifted, but Cahill made the most of out his ability that's for sure. I always thought that Cahill was a wee bit limited technically, but he was a fantastic athlete and had a great eye for goal. Bresciano was pretty classy as well to be fair. Those as a front 4 would have been pretty frightening if they were all fit and on form.

Bosnich had a decent career, not Australia's best ever, but no bad for an average keeper.
