I don't think it's too far a stretch to assume hat he'd never have got a chance under Lennon if he was still here. He's not a British enough player and technical, creative types are eyed with suspicion in these parts.
commons is probably the least "british style" player ever and lennon built his team to accomodate him in a free role upfront tbf
The least British style player ever?

Commons' touch is pretty erratic, can be great and can be utter shampooe. More than a few times during the first half yesterday the ball literally bounced off his foot. He's also only really got one thing on his mind. Take a touch, find half a yard. Shoot. He's got a good eye for goal and can drift into pockets of space.

But he's not exactly a technically excellent, European style no. 10.

If it's the fact I mentioned Lennon that got your back up then how about Nakamura getting played on the right under Strachan when his best position was as a no. 10/playmaker or even on the left.

Perfect example of the mistrust of that kind of player in Scotland and the UK in general.

He reminds me a bit of Viduka. He seems to have the ability to take the ball in tight areas and beat defenders while looking like he did it in slo-mo.

Cracking performance yesterday, all thar was missing was a goal. Plays with his head up, an Aussie version of Scott Allan ;)

Thought he was class again yesterday.

His poor performances always seem to come after being away with the "Socceroos" :boik:

It's just nice to see a player that has a lovely touch when on the ball. If he can speed it up a bit then we will be in for a treat with him.

Away at Tynecastle and home to the sheep - as big tests domestically as Tom will face just now - and he passed both with flying colours.

Great player to watch and seems to had added a bit of steel to his game.

Difficult to leave him out of the team on this form.

I'd leave him out of games after international duty

Nice to see him applying himself a bit more than what he was. If we have both him and Bitton in the team we need runners around them. That's not to say they don't put a shift in or aren't mobile just the style of game they both play. Like McCourt before him people underestimated his passing as they concentrated on his close control. I'd like to see him get more game time at the expense of Commons. We've got young players here now who can contribute without being selfish to the point of being a detriment. We need to get them more experience.

Think this is entirely right, Commons will inevitably need to be phased out though can still contribute. Agree with the comment about McCourt's passing; unfortunately Paddy was a bit of an anachronism and was never going to make it at a high level - Rogic looks very much to have what it takes if he can kick on and stay injury-free.

Nice to see a player with decent ball control, gives him that extra bit of time to look for a pass
Nakamura was great at it too

Why phase Commons out? Hard work oor pace have never been assets of his, I hope he's with us for another few years.

2 very good games in a row for Rogic after an absolute shocker at Fir Park. He's been like a new signing :ph43r:

I must've been watching a different game from everyone else on Saturday.

Thought he did hee-haw. (Overhit pass to Forrest aside)

Played a lovely ball to Armstrong who should've scored.

Some nice runs and nice passing forward.

He struggled big time up at Pittodrie.

But I see what your saying and agree, with this form he is a cert for Thurs.
