He's a matchwinner. We need to win.

We need someone who can make a difference at this level. Play him.

Brown, Ntcham'n' Tam.
Harsh on Armstrong.

Harsh on Armstrong.

Armstrong has never really convinced in Europe. N'tcham was our best player in both legs v Astana. He's also fresh after the weekend. I'm certain he'll start.

Rogic, Armstrong or McGregor is the decision.

I'd go for Rogic but a case could be made for all 3.

I've a feeling this will be a "last half hour" rather than "first hour" assignment for Tam.

Yeah, Rogic is an impact player. Start him on the bench.

Solid 3 of Armstrong, Ntcham and Brown to begin with.

Fear that these games are ones that are gonna suit McGregor and Armstrong more than him in that role. Was missing for most of tonight and poor when not.

Was completely missing tonight, McGregor touched the ball more times than he did with 180 seconds than Tam did the whole time he was on the pitch.

I think that, just now, the CL is a wee bit beyond him as a starting player; imo, he would be more effective as a sub against tired defenders.

I love him but he was weak tonight - that's what I saw. Powederduff at every challenge. He was the biggest disappointment.

I agree. Not quite on that level just now. Which is fine considering he missed a big part of his development through injury. Hunskelper supreme though.

played through the summer after his injury and a couple of international playoffs look likely in the next 6 weeks so might be turn of year before hes back to his best

with armstrong, mcgregor and roberts (if we go 3 again with forrest wide) we at least have decent options especially domestically so plenty of games he can be rested

Back to his best? :ponder:

Scored against the Hun on the weekend and should have had another. Today was just a blip.

A lot of folk were saying it was essential that Rogic start last night. His performance was the reason why several people considered that McGregor or Armstrong should have started instead.

Rogic is a great player who is a goal threat and capable of real magic in the ball. However, like a lot of creative players, when his influence in a match weans, he doesn't offer much. Armstrong and McGregor will always give you plenty of running and mobility, even on an off night.

I don't think Rogic's CL credentials can be based on last night's showing alone. It was indicative though, of why it is not a certainty that he should start every game

Plays a different role in the champions league, which I'm not sure he is suited to.

Plays his best stuff when he is ahead of the midfield and closer to the striker

We had tons of possession last night, but most of it was a lot further back on the pitch than we'd be if we posted similar stats in Scotland. Rogic seems to be better with people close around him, when he's got all that space it's almost like he doesn't know what to do with it.

He's a terrifically talented player, but he's never going to be someone who covers every blade of grass so it does raise the question of whether we should be looking at playing someone who gets around the pitch a bit more in these games (Armstrong or McGregor being the obvious choices).
