Does tom have a bad first touch?

Having an arguement here and some one is saying it is awful.

I always thought it was his best ability. His touch always seems to take him into space rather than just standing still.

Am i being biased
Not been as good as last season

Have said it endless times this fella is rotten.

Sprays and threads to odd decent pass but he guy was blowing out his arse 30 mins in. Abysmal at the second and sold the red card.
Every now and then I feel people should be reminded of this

It was some fella on reddit soccer forum. Him and a celtic fan both said his touch was poor. One said it was awful and told me to watch the scottish cup final last 20mins again. Supposedly he gave the ball away loads due to his first touch.

I watched it, he lost the ball twice and only once because of a bad touch. Mental

His style of moving with the ball does seem a bit 'idiosyncratic' I guess. I find it effing beautiful, and - or rather because - it's clearly effective. I think I can kind of understand why his first touch might look a bit sloppy or languid sometimes . His second, third and fourth touches are often better. :)

I was literally just reading that on reddit haha. I was cracking up at "6 foot Australian ballerina"
It takes balls to bring up Tom Rogic on a thread about Messi's incredible dribbling technique. I like it :rocker:

I'm looking forward to Tom and Paddy opening up defences again this season. We have others with that capability but these two are something else.

Hopper used to do the same thing. They aren't controlling the ball with their first touch, they're trying to beat a man or move into space. Sometimes it doesn't work and it ends up looking like a shampooe control.

Show em the Killie goal again. His first touch kills the ball stone dead and sets him up to score an absolute belter.

I wouldn't say his first touch is the best thing about him, I think the next few touches are his best asset, where he seems to be able to manoeuvre himself out of situations. His first touch is hardly Dennis Bergkamp's, but he can get out of danger like Mara effin dona.

His excellent spatial awareness often results in him beating a man without laying a toe on the ball, his first touch then becomes a pass or a shot.
Unbelievable talent and surprised there hasn't been anyone in for him.

He also drops the shoulder well and leaves players scurrying in the wrong direction or hacking fresh air.

I dont think ive ever seen someone create so much space by letting the ball come across his body. The amount of players that would take a touch and turn, Tom turns and lets the ball run through into the space.
