Just to clarify: imo, Henke was hard enough - and obviously good enough - to be a Lion had he been around then (signing of foreign nationals and 'people of colour' aside); all I said was that he was #3 behind Luggy and Bertie, imo. Rumour has it even Jim Brogan was scared of those two; Davie Hay was also made of stern stuff - just check out how he dealt with Francisco Marinho's shuddering over-the-ball challenge in WC74, but even he wasn't as hard as my top 3.

Peter Grant... hard..? he'd've been haudin' the jaikets back in the day.

Before my time and I wish there was more footage of him. Similar to McGrain, there's not much on youtube that would show what a great player he was, as he did it week in, week out, rarely stuff that made 'highlights' packages.
I'm sure Celtic received a massive bid for Bobby Murdoch after Lisbon, but it was rejected. He injured his ankle in the early 70's in a tackle and had to strap it up before every game. Rumour has it that the injury never healed and meant his mobility was damaged / couldn't train as hard and he put on weight, which meant he was never 100% fit.
Jock Stein rated him very highly -
"His importance to the success of a great Celtic team was such that when Jock Stein was asked when he thought Celtic might win the European Cup again he replied "when Bobby Murdoch is fit". Stein also credited Murdoch with being "just about the best player I had as a manager". (From Wikipedia)
Jack Charlton loved him as well at Middlesbrough

Sorry. What problem was there signing foreign players of 'people of colour'?

Will anyone get through tonight? I’d imagine lines will be busy with everyone in Scotland wanting to discuss the blatant diving and cheating from the weekend.

It was an extremely rare occurrence back then.

I'm sure I read Brogan took wee Bertie in a square go.

That's the story I've heard (from an eyewitness to a training ground punch up).

Makes Derek Johnston look like Einstein. Tried to argue that Rainjurs were "back" because they just won 2 games in a row. English and Stewart absolutely ripped the pish out of him.

I don't know why Kilmarnock let him bump his gums on radio, TBH - he actually said "us" when he referred to Sevco during the program, and unless I missed something at the top of the show, it took more than 30 minutes for his actual club to be mentioned. Does this sort of thing wash in any other country? It would be an absolute outrage out here for a player under contract to work as a pundit constantly commenting on a club he used to play for/support.

I cannot believe that Kilmarnock still give him a wage. I can understand to an extent when uber hun Johnston was in control there but he's not anymore. Boyd once said in an aftergame interview on TV where he had scored against the hun (it was some kind of landmark goal) that "it was unfortunate it came against Rangers". If I were one of his teammates hearing that I'd have ko'd him.

Is he the worst striker in history against us ?

Not something like one goal in 40 games or something just as pathetic ?

Aye, and he also got dropped for a fair few games against us (he was also habitually dropped for Hun (RIP) European games).

Pish player, pish pundit.

Not a phone in but on the Totally Football Show, Ian Macintosh just mentioned Rodgers being the first manager to really crack Pep's City and everyone else followed suit. First journo I've heard down there not put it down to the mighty Tottenham.
