'Gemmell's a b******' followed by a rendition of The Sash wasn't unusual at Scotland games at Hampdump in the late 60's

Heard the first ten minutes tonight
Presenter ask about any referee decisions that broke your heart
Doug Rougvie's red card in the 79 league cup final springs to mind
Should have phoned in and asked BFDJ about that

Liked the idea of renaming Lennoxtown the Tommy Burns academy. Good way to remember him rather than the small plaque.

can we get a petition organised to get the training complex renamed? Everything about youth football, about playing the game the proper way epitomises everything about Tommy Burns - make it happen.

not trying to be smart here but i'l say it in the nicest possible way before someone says it in a more abrupt way :

why don't you start a petition yourself?

Seriously though, this is something we should all get behind. Tommy is the man we've all dreamed of being. The fan, the player, the manger, the man :worthy:

X3 Tommy was my hero. People meet their heros and they are disappointed and let down. Only met Tommy twice but what a privilege and honour. A true gentleman and hero.

To be honest I think it was rife in the ‘60’s from what i’ve heard but it did die out in the ‘70)s.Whether it was the upsurge in Scottish nationalism or qualifying for the 74 World Cup I don’t know but when I went to a few Scotland games in the seventies I never noticed anything.Scotland fans sang YNWA in the 74 game v England. What did annoy me however was Hugh Keevins saying he remembers junky getting booed by the rangers support in the Scotland games and Henderson getting booed by the Celtic support at Scotland games. It was only celtic players who got a hard time during Scotland games in the ‘60’s.its the typical Scottish sports journalism of you can’t criticise rangers without dragging Celtic into it.Years ago if any journalist criticised rangers for not signing catholics they would then criticise Celtic, founded by Irish immigrants, for flying the Irish flag!

it happened in the 90s at a scotland-poland match and one certain dariusz dzieckanowski got dogs abuse any time he touched the ball.
i was in the rangers end that day.

i remember roy aitken and brian mcclair getting it at matches in those days too.

I can remember the same . Went to Scotland v Argentina before the WC 1990 , and Roy Aitken and Brian McClair got booed coming on to the field as subs that night , and by a sizeable portion the crowd around me . My last Scotland game, totally sickened
