Rae is adamant that the SPFL isn’t competitive. Right now there’s the grand total of one point between Celtic and Aberdeen. That sounds pretty competitive to me. Last season there was a competitive battle for second place. There were a number of clubs competing to finish in the top 6. There were a number of teams involved in the battle to avoid relegation. If you take Celtic out of the equation then last season was extremely competitive. That’s the problem with huns. They’re so narrow minded they can’t see the big picture.

Rae’s a clown but the fact there’s only a point between us and Aberdeen doesn’t make it a competitive title race. We’re making 6/7 changes per match and haven’t got out of second gear. We showed last Wednesday what will happen when we need to step it up.

The fact Aberdeen currently have a better record against the rest of the league than we do means it’s a far more competitive title race than the likes of Rae and Souness are claiming. I’m in no doubt we’ll pull away and win the title comfortably once our schedule eases a bit but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s currently close after the first round of games.

What do the Graeme Souness and Alex Rae's of the world actually want to change though?

What they cant acknowledge is that their success in the Souness and Smith years was a castle built on sand. Borrowed money and tax evasion. Unfortunately what we have now is the level playing field and they are in their rightful position ie in a battle for second and third place. It is this fact that their WATP mentality cant understand.

No matter what kind of spin they try and put on it they want sevco to win the title regardless of how that is achieved.

The strong Rangers bandwagon is a red herring. Just change the word strong to triumphant and you have their measure.

Listening to Sunday Sportsound. Chris McLaughlin (I think) said that "Rangers" would be looking for the "Rodgers effect" with their new manager, and John Hartson is just incredulous, pointing out that we’ve gone 18 months unbeaten and they can’t even manage to win three games in a row.

Love it.

True, but on the other hand he did call them "cheats" on live radio and point out repeatedly that their troubles are entirely of their own making.

Celtic just keep hammering them, and it will finally sink in, that they are not very good... In the next year or two the Bigotdome, will be lucky to see 30,000+, if Celtic keep going the way they are......

Would be good to hear this, read it was interesting. Heard a snippet where he states those responsible for recruiting Caixinha should be ousted.

I read the visceral hatred for Hartson on the folgensie folgensie thread about it before I heard the podcast. I had an idea of what he would say but didn't think he would go as far as he did. Fair play, big man. You're the first I've heard on the BBC to use the word 'cheat' in connection to the cheating bastards. And to state categorically that they did everything to themselves. BBJ had the balls to use the 'EBT' word which McLoughlin assiduously avoided when the loathsome Souness was claiming that he had had no act or part in Rangers' demise. McLoughlin bottled it in front of an open goal. Souness took one when managing another club, FFS! Great listening, though.

Only criticism of Hartson was that he spoke of them being demoted but overall he got the message over that they deserved everything they got and continue to get.
Souness on the other hand is delusional if he thinks he had nothing to do with their demise and that he left them in a good place. I hated the carrot when he played for them and stiil effing hate him.
