Alex Rae on BBC Sportsound being torn a new one by English about Souness comments. English also bemoaning the fact that this the third night in a row Souness's "Scottish football is doomed" treatise is being discussed on this programme.
That was tremendous listening.

Rae was squirming and sounded like a jakey ned by the time English had finished with him.
listened to it all, Tom English was brilliant, just totally tore into Rae, completely destroyed his arguments. Could not fault English`s thoughts and conclusions which completely demoralised Rae and tore Sounness argument to feck
Is it not a bit of a pointless argument anyway?

Even if Scottish football need a strong Rangers so what? Sevco get a 15 point start.....The SFA give them £50 million .... Celtic start with 10 men........opponents at Ibrox have their GK blindfolded......What?

Basically Rae is saying it nooo fair and greetin. Nothing else.

If you read between the lines of what these clowns have been spouting this week (Sourness in particular) then the huns should basically be allowed to dope by whatever means "for the good of Scottish football".

Fine, why not enable competition from the other clubs? Give hibs, Aberdeen and hearts 'no sporting advantage' :cough:

Rangers had their shot.

They died.

The huns are spoilt little brats.

They have been playing with a stolen ball and since the owner found his ball and taken it away, they have been lying on the floor, kicking and screaming “Gimmie my ball (that wasn’t mine and I didn’t pay for) back.

Idiots.

English dismantling Rae was hilarious. Though it was like listening to the Glasgow Uni debating champion take on a primary one. Your weans might go to a private school Alex but intelligence isn’t transferred up the way.

The espanyolisation of ranjurs continues - rae, souness etc cannot accept that their day has gone, that ranjurs are no longer the establishment club, that the days of lording it over the rest of Scottish football have gone - when upstarts like Motherwell can come to Glasgow, to a semi-final no less, and bully ranjurs, then something has to be done -Tom English was brilliant, but like Celtic, there was no real competition.

Why does it need to be a “ strong Rainjurz”?? I can almost get the fact that as they carry a large support and fill away ends , that they put much needed money into smaller clubs bank accounts. But why do they have to be “ strong” ? When we went through our barren / close to the brink / pre Fergus era I don’t remember any journo or ex player bemoaning the fact that Scottish football was missing a strong Celtic . Quite the opposite in fact , Souness in particular was more than happy to state that the signing of Judas set us back years. The “ strong Rainjurz” pish is just another way of peddling their WATP shyte.

The likes of Souness and arse were quite happy to sit back and count their EBT cash when Minty was driving Rangers into the ground. They were quite happy to sit back and sing the praises of Chuck Green when he used the founding of Sevco to fleece the supporters. They’ve been silent when it comes to the comical dealings of King and the admission in court that he’s rooked.

They can go on about a “Strong Rangers” all they want. The reality is these people have no idea what’s required for a football club to achieve strength and stability within the rules. They’re too stupid/arrogant to take a look at the way proper football clubs are run.

Just listened to the Englisgh v Rae podcast and I loved it. Although it was the 1st time I've heard a journalist speaking so positively about Scottish football (even if it was only to put a Hun in his place)...great to hear English say that he has liked seeing BR's Celtic play football, he has liked seeing other clubs winning trophies since Rangers (IL) demise that he likes how the other clubs are trying to improve themselves. And above all say that Scottish football has indeed survived the death of the RFC cockwombles!

Also good to hear Rae admit that he doesn't think any of the 4 biggest clubs in Scotland need a "strong" which made his opening argument a pile of pish!

English is a bit of an enigma at the beginning of the Rangers saga he seemed on point, now he seems to toe the same club pish and then he doles out a beating like that to yet another hun apologist he seemed to think that just because the animal says something then it must be true!

That was a bit smart-arsed sorry. But no, there was no hand-wringing in the press for a 'strong Celtic, they'd all have been happy to see us die. It was fine cor the sheep to challenge them. It's not to ok for the sheep to challenge us though. Has to be the huns or we never actually won those titles you remember us winning. A pox on all their houses

Thanks for clip, BBC doesn't play abroad - Rae banging on like a Toy Monkey with a drum - one incessant rambling point and no substance to argue on - English could have brought a few other points into the argument but probably valued his double glazing too much !
Sky "viewing figures " being quoted but their prices, illegal streaming and club websites all have had an effect - many other clubs are showing increase in support !

Alex Rae is an absolute Hun monkey.
Listening to guys like him trying to vocalise a coherent point, with the use of normal sized words that are way out of his comfort zone is glorious....

Having said that, the constant rolling out of said Hun monkeys is tiresome. Surely there are better guys coming through the new media outlets who can make these showed more “listenable”.....?

Some people did say that Scottish football needed a strong Celtic during their nine in a row era. Only an Excuse actually did a sketch about it during the Lou Macari era, featuring Tony Roper’s Uber-Rangers fan character scoffing at the suggestion. It wasn’t as widespread as it is today though and, back then, the motivation for those saying the game needed a strong Celtic was because Rangers’ miserable European displays were blamed on a lack of domestic competition.
