Because he was offered the highest wages he would ever earn. I know Ian, have for over 20 years and he has always been a straight up guy, 100% bluenose but 100% consistent with it, could always give and take it.

Chic Young on the radio just now talking about KT reminding him of Bale coming through as a full back and how he can play at that level.
Bale was a poisoned chalice at Spurs at this age, was he not? Tierney has done more in the game than Bale so far at the same age, transfer fee aside. If he continues to progress at the current rate (already looks far more athletic and ready to bomb forward this season over last, to me) then there's nothing to say he can't become a "Scottish Bale". While I highly doubt he'll ever be as good as Bale is now as few players are, he's setting himself for an exceptional career. Someone else on the show was talking about how he could see him doing a McStay and just staying here. Would be nice, wouldn't it?
A good friend of mine with very solid Spurs connections/credentials told me that early in his career Bale was offered to us and to the huns. The London club were looking for bids in excess £3m or so but none were forthcoming. Apparently they were happy to sell him but not to their PL rivals.

He knew what I am and what my outlook was and he could have gone to hundreds of other places where he would have been feted but didn't and chose to come to my place, the day we drew at Dunfermilne before winning 97-98 league we all got it tight but give him his dues he was in a week later to take it all back with interest

Rangers are his 'wee' team. :)

Was well-liked at Palmerston by all accounts. Just caught the back end of the broadcast but delighted to him hear speak out. Speirs too. Coupled with Radar's revelations about the hacks walking out en-masse, it's been a bad week all round for the People's propaganda machine. (although having read RRRRody's piece in the Telegraph last night I think he's still angling for his debenture back.) :nono:

See this pish about Neil Lennon being an ex-Celtic player and manager, and that he should expect a degree of abuse "just because of who he is". And it would be the same case when a ex-Rangers player goes to CP? This seems to have been the stance of SSB last night.

How much sectarian abuse and hate did Lee McCulloch have to endure last week at Celtic Park, as the visiting manager?

None? Okay just checking.

Sumbdy said the huns started taking photos of the hacks before a press conference and the hacks left. I imagine the hun would then distribute photos of any hacks asking awkward feniany questions. Could all be pish tho.

Eff knows but the huns went out their way to come up with an excuse for their nazi salute and called it a Red hand salute. :brickwall: This over arm gesture must be really, REALLY bad.

Keith Jackson reported it in the Record yesterday and said it will happen again if they train the cameras on the press before the Hearts game this week.

He described it as sinister. He's not wrong. And he said it was video!

Elbows is a great example actually. I think if there was a poll of the most disliked recent ex-Hun players I think he'd be up amongst the top 3.

And as you say, it didn't even occur to the 30k at CP to give the man a second thought about his combative style of play etc etc

The issue is 100% about bigotry even if it is in part the 90 min variety.
