I well remember the great nakamura free scandal at love street, that caused real radio to conduct a poll from its listeners, on the validity of the free kick. The fact that nakamura had to get the ball up and over the wall, past the keeper and into the bottom corner, whilst being under the pressure of it being in the last minute, alluded the moon howlers, who's joy at the thought of celtic dropping points, had been cruelly dashed by the Japanese wizard. Their pain was acute in those days, now it's chronic. After a week of media abuse for Naka, the huns got a free-kick in the exact same fashion against Falkirk I think, for their winning goal, and it was airbrushed out of history.

As someone on here discussed, the issue for referees is they know giving something controversial to Celtic will be blown up for at least a week and then discussed again in subsequent matches. Give something controversial against Celtic (or for Sevco etc) and it's virtually forgotten. Or even better it's dismissed because Celtic should be good enough to win anyway.
For example, during Willie Miller's rant on the radio at no point did anyone mention Jamie Walker's blatant dive to win a penalty against us on the opening day of the season. Maybe that's because it's a player cheating the referee as much as anything but it's still a mistake by the ref to give it. Yet according to Miller Celtic and Rangers (sic) consistently get the dodgy calls.

We also never see anything made of the decisions that don't get made, one being the nailed on red card for Ash Taylor's two footed challenge on Sinclair last week. Willie miller talk about that?

Keevins brought up the 1989 Scottish Cup final and the "throw in"....nearly 30 years ago and he seems to validate it to the weekend. Do we really need to go through where we were wronged over the years??
It was a bad decision the ref made at St.J but it had no bearing on the game - Moussa Dembele' substitution was the only thing that had a bearing on the game. End of.

It was a bad decision the ref made at St.J but it had no bearing on the game - Moussa Dembele' substitution was the only thing that had a bearing on the game. End of. Keevins has very little knowledge on the ins and outs of football. He's a self proclaimed expert on the psyche of Glasgow football fans and normally his views on that are well wide of the mark.
What he is good at doing is using the Clyde Phone In to demean your average Joe; guys who are a little nervous to be speaking on a public forum and often bumble their points. He'll cherry pick certain phrases, built pedantic arguments around the wording of those phrases then refuse to budge when the caller explains that what Hugh is focusing on isn't the initial point that was trying to be made but is instead zeroing in on an off the cuff remark that had little bearing on said initial point.
Absolute weapon.
He only gets away with it because the rest of the panel are so thick they sit in awe of Shug's verbosity - when it's essentially dead air.
His true colours are shown when the likes Alex Thomson or BR or someone like Austin MacPhee appear on the show. Guys who know exactly what they are doing in their profession. That's when you hear the most amateurish questions and sucking up from Hugh. Fanny.

Thomson's challenge to him was controlled , intelligent and took him to task all very clearly and professionally- and he could not handle it. As you would expect from Thomson due to his level of professionalism & background and as you would expect from Keevins "the sport journalist" as he told us he was - when the point was exactly that he was a sports journalist and done nothing about reporting facts about Rangers (RIP) demise.
McPhee was articulate and knew what he was doing speaking to the point Keevins just made the usual sly digs and condescending tome to belittle Scottish football the work some people try to do. Solutions Hugh not the problems of our game which time and time he focuses on.
On side note a thing of beauty which I posted a few pages back was his belittling of a fellow Celtic supporter who dared to call in last week.
He very clearly demeaning and being snide to the caller asked him…”do you know your history Paul…” when talking about Ronnie Simpsons age when he signed for Celtic…the caller innocently said” he was before my time Hugh…” to which Hugh replied when talking about Ronnie that he was 36 years old when he signed for Glasgow Celtic…end of call and Hugh had the supremacy of the intellect and triumphalism of a Scottish football historian that he thinks he is..
Ten minutes later tweet comes in from a I would assume an older Celtic supporter….Uncle Tim McCulloch reads it out..”Ronnie Simpson was one month before his 34th birthday when he signed for Celtic Hugh & I do know my history ….
I literally nearly crashed the car in laughter. Comedy gold.

Anyway, aye, he's an absolute zoomer. I only listen occasionally now as the people that phone up tend to be incapable of rebuffing Hugh's selective arguments and ultimately the show is a tit for tat of heated exchanges rather than any kind of real insight into Scottish Football.
I've often wondered why there isn't a better quality show on Scottish Football - actual analysis and discussion of player development and tactics, training, strategies etc.
I can only conclude that we either don't have the personnel to present and contribute to such a show or our game doesn't have the depth to be analysed in such a way... or that it simply wouldn't attract listeners - who would more likely gravitate towards the mudslinging of Clyde's platform.

Sevco will need every honest mistake in the book twice over if they are to avoid an absolute mauling at CP next month. If we've got everyone fit and we're buzzing ....holy shampoo the score-line could be something way outside the box. A caller on SSB the other night said that sooner or later Celtic are going to absolutely hammer a team 10v0 or more, and I tend to agree. It only takes a team to have an off game coinciding with our having an A game at full throttle. Most teams that come up against us are highly motivated. It's their opportunity to pit their wits against the best team in the country and there's little expectation to get any points, home or away. It's a great chance for players to show what they've got. But I feel sure that before the season's out some team is going to get a severe beating at CP, and actually sevco might very well hold the short straw. For starters, it is one of the few remaining 'big games' left on the calendar for our players , and they will all be champing at the bit to get the nod from BR. So sevco will likely encounter our A game at full throttle. The question then is how will sevco respond to that? It is very much on the cards that by then they might have the farts breathing down their necks for third spot whilst the dons steal further ahead of them. If they come along to paradise in those sort of circumstances I would fear the worst for them They would be coming with fear in their bellies, nay terror. Their defence is shaky at the best of times. If they come along to CP and they are losing ground in the league I think there could be a total collapse and double figures could not be ruled out.

I can only guess this.
The sports/programme controller at Clyde is a girl form the North of Ireland. Lorraine Herbison. She control’s programming at Clyde and fair to say is a Sevco fan & being from where she is ain’t to liking of all things Tim and Celtic. BFDJ toolbag is well in at Clyde even though he jumped ship to Real Radio space was found for him very very quickly back at Clyde by Lorraine/the bosses when and I think I speak for most who listen to it we could maybe have had a fresh start and revamp to get new faces in and new ideas/conversations/opinions. However we see BFDJ, Keevins,Wan Cell and the self-saving cretin that Is Mark Wilson.
Scottish football is crying out for a radio show with decent punditry and ideas and people not afraid to disagree with each other most night rather than the auld pals act and a laugh nudge nudge wink wink when ou5r games has been dying for years for various reason’s…that’s my rant over.
NB-I only listen to thing for 30/40 minutes every night picking up the wee one or driving home from training as well – honest!
