Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Well, most of the time, aye. But the last two games he's been solid and reliable throughout the 90 minutes of each.
He had absolutely zero to do against Albion Rovers defensively so he cant be judged on that.

Against St Johnstone he was fine when he had time to play it sideways but had a lot of sclaffed clearances on his left side under pressure or a tendency to rush it onto his right and half clear it into a worse position. When Gamboa went off and he moved right he sat too deep and allowed St Johnstone the space between himself and Roberts. Better teams would punish us with him in the team. He might have all the tools but he cant read a game and at 26 he's as good as he'll get. I don't want him anywhere near playing in a European tie or even another Scottish Cup tie this season.

Any high pressure games and boyata can't be trusted. Punt as soon as.

That was the OLD Dedryk Boyata. This is the brand spanking NEW St.Johnstone-skelping Brendan Rodgers rebooted Dedryk Boyata.

Get your facts right. :nono:
I actually forgot we still had him until recently. Scandalous the amount of wasters we have on our books. Hopefully Rodgers isn't serious about keeping him around and is actually putting him in the shop window. Though I think that's wishful thinking, sadly

He's played very well but I didn't ever doubt that he was capable of that. I'll be sold on him when he manages to do it consistently in a run of games. Looks promising though.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I actually thought he deserved to be MOTM against St Johnstone. The last gasp tackle he made was excellent. Any mistakes there and it would have been a penalty and, at least, a yellow card (given who the Ref's da is probably a red though I understand that it shouldn't be now).

I still think he's a bombscare but if Brendan can turn Boyata around hr is capable of anything. If he does turn him around I'm starting to save for the a Euro to in the not too distant future.

If Rodgers can turn Boyata into an actual defender then I'll be taking down my portrait of myself in my hallway and putting up one of him.
Your lack of enduring participation is a loss to this forum.
Just to clarify; you mean enduring and not endearing, right?

There is probably no player at CP with the natural athleticism and physical attributes of Boyata. His weaknesses are all in his head. If Brendan can turn Stuart Armstrong into John White, he can turn Boyata into a serious defender. He has more going for him physically than Erik, but that's not too say he'll be a better defender. Brendan has a magic touch. This will be interesting.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong and you are absolutely correct about his physical attributes. It's his concentration (always vital for us given how dominant we are in a lot of games) that worries me. That and his distribution under pressure.

Hope he kicks on but if a bid came in on deadline day I'd be happy enough if we cashed in our chips and spent the money on someone else.

BR has a way to go to turn Stuart Armstrong into John White but I get your drift. If he can do anything remotely similar with Boyata it will be verging on miraculous. Agree the big man has the physical attributes of a quality central defender but he'll need to show attributes with the ball at his feet over a few months to establish himself in the team.

If he's still here on Wednesday it will indeed be interesting to find out if he can reach the level of consistency BR wants.

When he is in possession he reminds me of Adam West's Batman running through Gotham City with a bomb

Yes, it could be a shop window job on Brendan's part but I'm intrigued. It would not surprise me if he fancied his chances of making a proper player of DB.

Have serious doubts about him, particularly his passing, having said that Stuart Armstrong has come on significantly in this department since working with Brendan. Maybe, just maybe he can improve Boyata in this area. As others have said he is quick across the ground and strong in the air

This is what bothers me about this place.

Batman is in total control of that bomb, he shows great pace and real drive, and Robin is hiding - nowhere to be seen.

We're just so hyper-critical.

The bottom line is, he might not be superhero we want, but he's the superhero we need. Get off his back
