I still wouldn't be overly surprised, or bothered, if he was gone this window.
x2. Decent game last night but wouldn't be fussed either way.

If BR can work his magic with Dedryk then great. He will be a miracle worker.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Well, most of the time, aye. But the last two games he's been solid and reliable throughout the 90 minutes of each.
A game against Albion Rovers and a home game against St Johnstone. Now he's Bobby Moore.

I still remember that first half cameo against the huns, or being ragdolled against Malmo, amongst other ineptness.
That was quite the leap

My initial point was that over the last two games he hasn't looked a bomb scare at any point - whereas the initial poster was suggesting that he looked like one every time he got the ball last night bar two moments.

I'm not saying he's all of a sudden world class, but I think it's fair to give him another chance rather than let his past performance blight any chance of future improvement.

Usually when he has the ball at his feet with no pressure on him. :ph43r:

He had absolutely zero to do against Albion Rovers defensively so he cant be judged on that.

Against St Johnstone he was fine when he had time to play it sideways but had a lot of sclaffed clearances on his left side under pressure or a tendency to rush it onto his right and half clear it into a worse position. When Gamboa went off and he moved right he sat too deep and allowed St Johnstone the space between himself and Roberts. Better teams would punish us with him in the team. He might have all the tools but he cant read a game and at 26 he's as good as he'll get. I don't want him anywhere near playing in a European tie or even another Scottish Cup tie this season.

There's a whiff of shop window about his reinstatement in the team. Maybe I'm just being cynical?

In football, or in any sport actually, you are only as good as your last game, but in the fans eyes you can be as bad as you were a few months ago, and Deidryk will have to keep turning on this kind of performance game in and game out for a while to obliterate the bombscare memories. We can't really judge him against Albion Rovers as he was just an extra attacker in that game, but St.Johnstone is almost as tough as it gets for us so if he could keep yesterday's form going he could well become our best CB. A lot of ifs in there I know, but we can hope.

What, you mean you wouldn't accept anything over £1m for Dembele after last night's game? :cuckoo:

Those sclaffed clearances and criticisms- you are just making that up eh? There was no such occurrences last night from boyata

That was the OLD Dedryk Boyata. This is the brand spanking NEW St.Johnstone-skelping Brendan Rodgers rebooted Dedryk Boyata.

Get your facts right. :nono:

We all expected Boyata's Celtic career was done so anything from now on is a bonus.

Physically he can cope with SPL no problem. Its the mental side he will struggle with. And as we seen with Efe, players can find it very difficult to cut those mistakes out. Good luck to the guy. Less than 100 games at 26 suggests this is his last opportunity to kick start his career.

Fantastic at attacking the ball at corners though, will give him that.

Not to say that he will necessarily make a full turnaround but I don't think it helped Dedryk being thrown in as a first choice replacing a £15m defender and having the choice of Efe or Mulgrew to pair him with.

We now have two guys in Erik and Jozo who are a good partnership in their own right, but also assured enough to help bring out the best in someone with raw defensive attributes, similar to Balde with the likes of Mjallby and Joos.

For all his faults and eff ups, I wish all our players attacked the ball like him at set-pieces.

Based on the Rovers game would you be happy with lining up against Hearts?

Kolo Toure may be the best defensive coach ever if he has turned Boyata into a defender.

We'll have to wait and see if this is an odd purple patch or whether he is actually a decent defender that just needed some good coaching and some confidence.

I remain unconvinced.

Yeah, deserves to keep his place. Doesn't send out a good message if you drop drop guy in form. It's only Hearts.
