He was never as bad last season as people made out. He had poor games but he wasn't given the credit when he played well.

He was pretty bad, as I remember. Gave the ball away a lot and looked very unreliable.
He played well last night. I'll be impressed if Brendan can build up his confidence and unearth a player.
I think he had a game at the start of last season where he gifted a couple of goals with poor passing. I think it was against ICT. I honestly don't think his passing is that bad. He is a big powerful unit and he is a great aerial threat.

I agree with those who say for now he should be back up, but I don't think we should completely write him off.

It just goes to show you that if you work hard for Brendan you'll get your reward - and that's all players can ask for, really. We currently have 4 or 5 centre backs at the club (if you include Lustig) who are far above anyone else in the league imo. The same pretty much goes for every other position.
I think the fact he started last night after a decent game at the weekend is a great signal to everyone in the squad that they can't take their place for granted. Eric Svietchenko was showing a few signs of form loss in the games before the break, and Boyata has thus far grasped his opportunity. He more than deserves to stay in the team on Sunday. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Dembele being replaced by Griffiths ( assuming he's fully fit) v Hertz.

He had the last ditch tackle after the boy hesitated and the header for the goal which we know he is more than capable of. Other than that he looked the same bomb scare of a player he always does. He's like Efe but without the heart.

Agreed. Punt.

If he can play in goals we could see if Chelsea will take him.

He's played very well in the last two games. Sviatchenko has been dodgy of late, so Boyata deserves to start for now. Maybe it's a false dawn but we'll know soon enough.

Christ, there's a few going overboard here. He had a good game, that was all. Efe does that all the time.
Pretty much. He'll always just be a bad pass away from costing us a goal and being labelled a donkey again.

For all the times Boyata has made mistakes I don't remember too many goals he cost us through his mistakes. Nowhere near on the level of an Efe or Caldwell in that regard

As I pointed out yesterday, we currently only have three senior centre halves contracted for next season and he's one of them, with Lustig as another option there.

If Boyata can prove himself to be a valuable member of the squad we'll only need to sign one more centre half for next season, which either means that we can spend a bit more money on that one centre half or that we can strengthen another area of the team.

Other than one bad pass and one occasion when he let the attacker in behind him ( both on first half ) he was excellent . Pinged a couple of cracking crossfield passes aswell .

His last ditch tackle was a cracker aswell 👍
That last ditch tackle was even more incredible given that it was his header in the St Johnstone penalty area that they broke upfield from.
On, and the driven cross field pass to Forrest in the first half was stunning.
I thought the reaction of his teammates to that recovering tackle said a lot.
I thought the reaction of Boyata to his awol teammates who allowed the situation to develop said equally as much - He is not short of confidence - Good on him.

To be fair, no-one can watch Bitton play for 90 minutes without shouting at him once or twice

If he continues to play well for a number of games, then I might change my mind. But I doubt it'll happen. He's nowhere good enough.

Usually when he has the ball at his feet with no pressure on him. :ph43r:

Well, most of the time, aye. But the last two games he's been solid and reliable throughout the 90 minutes of each.

A game against Albion Rovers and a home game against St Johnstone. Now he's Bobby Moore.

I still remember that first half cameo against the huns, or being ragdolled against Malmo, amongst other ineptness.

I still wouldn't be overly surprised, or bothered, if he was gone this window.
