Sorry, get him punted to eff. He is murder. One of the worst passers of a ball I've seen in my life. How a professional player cannot pass a ball 10 or 20 yards, I do not know.

Before folk start saying that he can pass a ball, there has been far too many times that he's misplaced a pass to an opponent's feet, or out the park. He's got away with a few as well. I cannot believe that people want to see him playing in the midfield. effing absurd.

Both he and Ambrose will be gone soon enough.

He's a good defender but a really shampooe footballer.
He's not a particularly good defender either.

He looked good on Sunday but wasn't tested. Why we ever signed a player with his profile of barely a handful of games a season over a number of years is a mystery. If he is to turn his Celtic career round he'll need to play consistently well for a longer spell than he's managed at any club so far.

I'm still inclined to go with the shop window theory, though if BR thinks he's much more capable than we've seen so far, I completely respect that. Right now I don't see him displacing Eric or Jozo.

How would you see Dedryck Boyata playing in a midfield in front of the defence? I can't see him pinging passes about like Xabi Alonso? It's a terrifying thought tbh.

He's a centre half and we have a handful of better ones at the club.

Where did I say anything about midfield? :ffs:

He is a centre back and as you say we have better. He is not the atrocious player people make him out to be. He needs both game time and proper man management from someone with the skills which Brendan seems to possess. If he is given good helpings of both between now and the end of the season that will be a proper time to judge.

How many people wanted Brown, Forrest, Armstrong hunted out the door?

It wasn´t you but someone did mention playing him as a DM.

I agree he´s worth another shot, for the reasons you mentioned but his passing is awful. He´s actually worse when he has time to pick his pass.

Hopefully Brendan can make something of him.

Sorry mate the three players you mention have showed us they can do the business in relatively different terms.

Brown played injured last season and was poor but he is the current club captain for something. He is a very good player and leader. Armstrong was played out of position by a hapless manager at our club but we seen him as a competent player at United and have seen him this season play very very well in his best role.

Forrest like any winger/creative player is inconsistent but he can control the ball for the most part has pace and is direct and again we have seen him do this more often than not but most get frustrated by his inconsistency.

Boyata under Ronnie (20 odd games) has showed nothing and is not technically sound, erratic in the tackle & positioning last season was suspect more than once. He is a poor player and think the Mark Lawwell link up at Citeh cost us here.

We have currently much better centre half’s who are much more competent & simply put better players & defenders. He is not good enough for our team due to severe lack of skills for his position.

Boyata would do well at a club like Aberdeen or Herats where you can get away with howlers as they are more or less expected and the fans aren't as demanding. The fact he chips in with a decent number of goals across a season would see him being a relative success for the Sheep or Hearts.

In other words, get him tae eff.

Him and Efe are brutal. Not nice to criticise our players but now we are heading in an entirely different direction and these type of players need punted/let go as soon as we can.

If BR thinks he can make a player - even squad player - of this guy, then fair enough, but as with Ambrose, there will always be the worry that he can be coasting along playing well, then he just reverts to type and starts dropping huge clangers.

Boyata is hopeless and should be hunted. One stroll in the park against Albion Rovers second choice striker doesn't change that.

Jozo will need game time though at this stage in his development. I think Boyata could quite easily slot into a defensive midfield role.
See. This is what makes our game great. Differing opinions. I don't agree mate but it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong. If next month we see him pull the strings like Bobby Murdoch then you've got one up on me.

I think there a lot of CBs who, the more time they have, the more likely they are to give the ball away cheaply as they panic if they are not particularly good on the ball and prefer just to defend. Balde was a little bit like that at times, he could defend all day, head balls away, get tackles in, but with time on the ball he was more likely to give the ball away than anything.
Boyata and Ambrose are just two guys you wouldn't want to trust in big games with points/trophies on the line.
