Would have been better having 'for sale' on the back of his jersey than magniers. He would be fine in the english championship. In fact he would probably do really well. Just not for a team who hope to retain possession.
Most sensible comment yet in a sea of 'he's pish'. Never a ball-playing CB, but will do a job at a smaller club.

He's poor. Hopefully picks up a new team in January.

Hopefully no where near the bench tonight would be scary to see him up against genuine world class players.

the most one footed player I've ever seen, makes Barry 'Zoolander' Robson look like Lubo

Not that it was much of a challenge today, but I thought he was very calm and assured with everything he did today.

Thought he was very steady today and was unlucky not to score.

Easy game but he looked up for it, organising things at the back, getting people going. Maybe Brendan can get something out of him, but I won't hold my breath.

Adequate performance. Worth at least £6m on the McCann valuation scale now.

BRENDAN RODGERS last night hailed Dedryck Boyata — and revealed he has given himself a Celtic lifeline.

Boyata made just his second start under Rodgers as the Celts dumped Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

The Belgian flop, 26, still has two-and-a-half years of his deal left after costing £1 million-plus from Manchester City in June 2015.

But it had been thought he was definitely on his way out of the club along with the likes of Nadir Ciftci, Efe Ambrose and Scott Allan.

However, while the Celts were hardly under pressure at the back against Rovers, Boyata still did enough to impress Rodgers.

The Hoops gaffer said: “I thought Dedryck Boyata looked real quality. He looked like the young player I knew at Man City.

“I saw him play against Didier Drogba when he was young and he was fantastic.

“He hasn’t had a chance to play but in the last few weeks in training he has been great.

“He was focused and didn’t make any mistakes. He has all the attributes I love because he is big, he can defend and can play.

“In the past he has made mistakes and you can’t make mistakes. But now this might be his moment. He has the shirt and has played well — so now stay in the team.”

Rodgers was also delighted with goalscorer Scott Sinclair, who got the first-half opener with further strikes from Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong coming after the break.

Celtic have been drawn against Caley Thistle at home in the next round and Rodgers — his side now one game from equalling a 50-year Lisbon Lions record of 26 unbeaten domestic matches — said: “It was a good professional performance.

“You have to have patience in your game. You cannot score every time you go forward.

“You’ve a team who have 11 men behind the ball and it’s tough.

“You have to stay calm and wait for the moment. If you get the goal in the first 20 minutes then great.

“If not then you have to keep the ball circulating. Scotty’s goal is that bit of magic and that bit of quality.

“It was great to see and I thought he was outstanding all through the game.”

Celtic received a further boost when Kieran Tierney managed over an hour after a two-month injury lay-off.

Rodgers said: “Kieran looked like he’d never been away. He was so dynamic down the left.”

The Celts boss hopes to bring in one more new face before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

But Rodgers wouldn’t be drawn on their interest in Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru, 19, after SunSport revealed yesterday a £1m bid had been rejected by Belgian club KAS Eupen.

It’s believed the Hoops won’t get involved in an auction for the top prospect and may well now switch their focus to other targets, with RB Leipzig and Fenerbahce also keen on Onyekuru.

On the Celts’ attempt, Rodgers said: “I wouldn’t comment on that even if we had.

The holes in his game appear when he's under pressure and that wasn't happening yesterday. I'd rather punt him to a Championship side in need of a heid the baw than give him a chance to prove his inadequacies are still there in the next cup game against a side who aren't sitting behind the half way line.

Rodgers isn't daft. He's well aware of the level of opposition yesterday and what Boyata is capable of against better sides.

He'll still be gone if there's a decent offer.

Rodgers isn't going to come out and say Boyata is pish, yesterday was just an opportunity to get Boyata in the shop window for some Championship club in England to pick up for £1m
