He's the definition of average. The things he's good at are cancelled out by the things he's poor at. He'll probably make a decent living in the English Championship but he's not good enough for Celtic.

Still pish/not good enough.

With any luck he'll be away in January or the end of the season.

While I thought he had one of his better games for us last night I would much rather Eoghan O'Connel had been given a game.

considering he hasn't kicked a ball for the first team since April, he did alright. Needs confidence and a better surface, but I think he has something to offer.

Glad he played. It was like Janko's last game, and he lasted another 4 days.
Wasn't anything like Janko's last game, he got torn apart time after time in every single attack in Israel, Boyata didn't and actually had some very good interceptions, particularly near the end of the game.

Not saying I want him kept but he was nowhere near as bad as some are making out.

Agree with this. I thought defensively he wasn't too bad it was just his distribution that seemed poor. Will get better with games under Rodgers but not sure he is going to get many unless there is injuries.

He looks terrified.
I can see why he's got as far as he has, he has most of the attributes: pace, power, height - but I doubt he'll ever repay the faith people have had in him.

He was exactly as he was most games last season. Bambi on ice when it comes to passing which makes him completely unsuited to what Rodgers is looking to achieve.
At the end when they were going a bit more direct it actually played to his strengths. Splitting wide and taking it off the keeper isn't for him.

He cannot accurately pass the ball 10 yards and find a team mate on a consistent basis.

I heard Danny Murphy a couple of weeks back talking about Vladimír Smicer saying that he signed for Liverpool and in the first few training sessions they thought he was the best player in the world. But Murphy said that he just could not transfer that into a game due to nerves (particularly at Anfield).

I think this may be the problem for Boyata. He seems to have all the attributes, the physicality, the pace, the strength, the reading of the game, bt he just cannot be relied upon to bring that to a matchday on a consistent and reliable basis. He is so similar to Ambrose in terms of concentration which playing for Celtic in the SPFL is one of the most important attributes.

"if we can tidy up his passing a bit to play quickly and have speed in his pass, he has a good chance." BR

can't see it myself.

I'd prefer Lustig at CB if we have 2 of the other 3 out injured or suspended.

Move on boyata and Efe and that's a lot of wage freed up, way too much wage for us to be paying a 4th choice CB.

He's no different from last year. Good tackler, relatively quick, and a decent header of a baw. Passing is honkin at times though, but that can be worked on - plus that pitch of Killie's is terrible so probably not the best game for judging that side of his game.

Is Killie's surface any worse than some of the other surfaces we play on away from home? The artificial pitch made matters worse but his passing is terrible in the first place.

I can't see him getting a game ahead of Toure, Erik or Jozo in anytime soon.

This is how I see it.
He's gotten at least 2 good moves, he definitely has a few of the attributes needed - concentration, confidence & bravery are not amongst them.
He'll never fulfil his potential.

Far too complimentary.
