I remember when he signed I had a quick look on YouTube to see what we were in for. Any sense of optimism evaporated after precisely 8 seconds.

He has turned out exactly as I imagined. Punt.

That "pass" aside, that might be the best I've seen him play!
Yeah he actually looks excellent in that video.

Some great challenges and use of his strength.

He's showed the same promise for us at times but at others been Ambrose like in his discipline. I wouldn't hold the Old Firm against him, he was playing with an injury from a few minutes in.

Not all players are Virgil Van Dijk who could slot into just about any defence on the planet and look excellent. Some do need to be coached properly and the defensive unit they are playing with is vital. Stephen McManus for example is a techincally woeful player, and as a defender nowhere near Boyata ability and attribute wise, yet Strachan was able to mould together a successful defence with him at the heart of it.

I'd give Boyata a chance. As has been said it takes something to be recognised by the Belgian national team given the quality they have. Maybe Rodgers will find a way to make best use of his strengths.

In that video of Boyata he looks a bit physically stronger. He looks a bit slight and gangly now. Could be wrong though.

There is certainly raw attributes there, and I think he did suffer from being asked to carry the ball out of defence, in addition to not really having a solid and reliable partner to consistently play alongside. Denayer had that, and it helped.

Not 100% sure about his mental strength as the game against Sevco he seemed to chuck it. But willing to give him a chance to prove himself. As others have said, we have had players before who struggled at the start and then went on to improve and be a useful squad member. One similarity is possibly Olivier Tebily, who while not a world beater went from a bombscare to a decent player to come on for MON, albeit briefly. He and Boyata arguably have similarities in their playing style.

They do except I think Tebily was better. The Caley cup debacle was the beginning of the end for him here. We've had far worse centre backs since.

I have a wee feeling that Boyata could still come good.

Seems that Rodgers likes him. Hopefully he can make Boyata into a player because last season he wasn't good enough. Rodgers has rejuvenated the likes of Forrest, Lustig and Brown so we'll see what happens.

Sometimes managers get more out of players who have looked fairly crap.

I think Boyata seems beyond help. Hopefully I'm wrong.

No chance Rodgers can make a player out of Boyata. If he can then I also expect him to turn Griffiths into Maradona and eagerly await our Champions League triumph.

I am going to go against the grain here and say I am a fan of Boyata. I think he can be a good back up for us.

He's very jittery on the ball, something you don't really want in your last line of defence
