Just from the last decade we've had plenty of centre halves who are worse than Ambrose or Boyata.

Thompson, Loovens, Caldwell, Rogne, Mouyokolo, Blackett, Gershon, Hooiveld, Virgo, Du Wei - there's 10 for a start.
Caldwell was better for Celtic than either, Loovens probably was as well. Gershon and Blackett played at Left Back for us. Du Wei was over a decade ago.
Caldwell was terrible. If he was a thousandth of the player he thought he was he'd have been fine, but he wasn't, he was crap. Loovens was even worse.

I'm sure I remember Gershon playing centre half, could be wrong though. Admittedly I've tried to erase all memory of Blackett but I thought he'd made an appearance at centre half for us too.

Du Wei made his one and only appearance for us in 2006. OK it was January 2006, but it's close enough.

Was Majstorovic a failure for us? He was slow but did a decent enough job, I seem to remember. Headers could be a bit wayward.

No one is
Ambrose worse than Boyata? Ambrose at least was part of a Celtic defence that got to the last 16 of the CL plus he played in a world cup, meaning he must have some defensive ability. Boyata's just a diddy.

Yes he was terrible. Spread panic amongst the defence to an even greater extent than ambrose. And then his legs went in his second season and he was even worse.

And yes we have had a very long line successionof bad centre halves. In fact over the years the good ones are a small minority.

Can hardly remember how he defended, but attack wise I do recall corner after corner, his header after header, when he missed from six yards out. Was a ten-bob-bit heid.

Ambrose is a decent footballer with the concentration and decision making skills of a pigeon.

Boyata looks like he isn't quite sure what a football is.

He did. He really did. Ambrose has a run of games when he is fune then takes the head staggers and is a real bombscare for a while. Big Dan fecked the whole defence game after game.

I still think there is a player in there.

Being included in the Belgian squad is fantastic news for us as it will result in either 1 of 3 things.

a) he does well, gets a massive confidence boost and comes back a better player.

b) he does well, gets a massive confidence boost and comes back a better player and we flog him for an exorbitant fee.

c) he is absolutely bollox, makes a cant of himself and dickheads like me can stop saying stuff like "I still think there is a player in there." :ph43r:

Although if there was the slightest possibility of getting Denayear back, I would go for it.
