Played well today and is getting better.

Big improvement since his early bombscare in possession performances.

Don't trust him yet with the ball at his feet but if he keeps it simple- as he did for the most part today - he will be fine.

Have given him pelters but he was very very good yesterday. Not sure about the backheel as he still gets caught doing daft things in europe but playing alongside Jozo and Lustig consistently appears to have helped.

I think he is decent, but earlier in this thread i said expect ups and downs til he gets up to speed. Think we are getting closer now to him finding his feet, was a really confident display on sunday.

Positive signs are there now for Boyata, but it remains a case of wait and see. Has to be acknowledged that last year Denayer arrived at Celtic as a very young player whose career was on an upward trajectory, whilst Boyata has been stagnating in reserve team football for the last 4/5 years, briefly interspersed with sporadic spells on loan without making many first team appearances.

Just watched sportscene.

Never noticed his cheeky wee back heel to Lustig when two saints players were closing him down.

I know Boyata got a lot of praise for his improved performance the other day but I still feel he was shocking a couple of times and could have cost us goals.

The one he dived in on the half way line and missed Michael Ohallaren, which in turn left Siminovic chasing him back and launching himself at him, which could have cost him a red.

The 2nd was at the corner of the box, he controlled the ball and under no pressure tried to pass it straight to the centre mid even know there was a St Johnstone player about 10 yards between him and the centre mid. Lucky for us the St Johnstone player didnt react quick enough and the ball just missed him.

2 mistakes ?? A shooting offence, get him out of the club , forthwith !!
Or we could realise that he's a player without a huge amount of games in his career and enjoy what was a decent performance, ps I lived through Tebily and Scheidt!!

He's a good natural defender - quick, strong and brave.

But he's a horrible footballer. I think he could be a success for us but the players around him need to take responsibility so that he isn't the one having to play 20 yard forward passes through a congested midfield.

He's showing some signs that he could be a decent big stopper but his almost complete lack of footballing ability will mean he will never be more than that.

Thats the big concern, from what i have seen so far neither he or jozo look comfortable passing it out from the back.

Agreed. But you can play 30 good passes and some fans will remember the 1 bad one.

Boyata on the other hand actually can't play football.

That'll be Ronny telling him to do that - he's not deciding to do it off his own back. Our CBs have to join the midfield to 'create overloads.'

If he becomes a decent big stopper and nothing more then we might not punt him
