All the bits are there but he is definitely a work in progress. The problem for us is that he gets to work that out in important games.
You're right in that he does appear to have limbs, a nose, eyes etc, but that's about it.

He's garbage.

his passing straight too the opposition is reminding me off gary caldwells similar trait. :(
His passing is as not as bad as his team mates make it look. At least five times he hit a good pass only for an Aberdeen player to intercept the ball from a sleeping Celtic player. He is not great with the ball and does hit terrible passes at times - but not as often as some people think.

could be a big part of it , the whole team seems to be sleeping at the moment.

It was never a penalty.

He looks like a good natural defender but his confidence is shot to pieces at the moment and I think that is contributing to how abysmal he is with the ball at his feet.

I actually feel a bit sorry for him. Getting flung into our ever-changing defence is the last thing an inexperienced, nervy centre half needs.
I agree with this. Very soft decision. I feel like people are tearing into him over this purely because he's not exactly been great so far.

Still don't have much hope for him mind, Mulgrew looked like a footballer in comparison at the weekend. Which says it all really.
Sorry guys it was as clear a penalty as you'll ever see. Aberdeen player got to the ball, controlled it and kept it in only for Boyata to charge into the back of him. There's only so much 'inexperience' you can let this boy away with, John Kennedy playing 90 mins away in the Camp Nou, thats inexperience. Boyata is punching well above his weight at a club the size of ours.
Wouldn't quite go as far to say he 'charged into him.' The player went down very easily. If I did that, went down so easily, playing 7's on a Saturday morning I would be laughed at if I claimed for a penalty. He was looking for the slightest contact to claim for a penalty. The only thing Boyata is guilty of in the Aberdeen game is 1)not being able to pass a ball and 2) being naive to think any contact wouldn't result in a penalty.

Nonsense. Some of his passing is downright shocking for the level he's playing at.

Much improved tonight. Hopefully the start of a solid partnership with Simunovic.

For the first half, mostly.
Poor second half, even before the 10 man panic.

Fine tonight. Give him a lengthy run alongside Simunovic and let's see what they can do.

So you describe my post as nonsense and then agree that 'some' of his passing is terrrible :ponder: : :ponder: :ponder:

For me there is not much difference between Boyata and Ambrose. Perhaps Dedryck needs more time to come good but anytime he has the ball at his feet and a forward pressing him I don't think it will end well.

He must have a square head or something because his headers always just go up in the air and never get distance. Better tonight.

The bit that's nonsense is that his passes look bad because of his team mates.

He did much better tonight with his passing although still poor with crosses.

When keeping it simple there looks to be a good defender there. Just has to avoid passing more than 5 yards

You can see his inexperience even at 24. I feel that he'll come good, he has the attributes, but he scares the eff out of me.
