I think he'll be fine after he gets up to speed but he is clearly an inferior player to Denayer. I couldn't believe how lazy he was when he gave possession away today and trotted back as our defense got torn to shreds by the through ball almost resulting in Gordon getting sent off. There was another occasion where he was faced with an oncoming County player at the edge of the box and instead of closing him down, he backed off and then quite unbelievable started moving away from the ball towards the touchline allowing the shot to come in. My immediate thought was he must be a bit thick. It was utterly bizarre and if Ambrose had done it we'd still be talking about it this time next year.
Didn't read this before my post but spot on. Some baffling decision-making. Needs games and coaching like you said.

Denayor was slow at first and got caught in the physical nature of the Scottish game but got there so here's hoping

It's not the physical nature i'm concerned with regarding Boyata it's his terrible short passing.

Boyata will be a very good player for us, but I would love for his first season to be playing alongside Virgil.

Got a funny feeling if we get into the CL proper, our Centre Backs will be Boyata and Denayer.

There was a period of about 10 minutes (maybe either side of HT) where every one of his passes seemed to find an opponent - almost intentionally, it seemed.

He looks quick though. I reckon 'making amends' will be one of the key qualities we see from him.

I think Bobo did the same on purpose.
Just casually giving the ball away so he could have some meat to chase.

Guys like him live to defend, the other stuff is just boring to them.

Not played in a while so distribution can be poor but it'll come.

I like him a lot.

He made more passes yesterday than any other player.
Had a mad 5 minutes, but a lot of that was to do with the midfielders in front of him failing to give him an option.

His tackle second half was excellent.

I'm hoping he's shaking off some rust. At times he looks robust and imperious and at other times he looks like he hasn't a clue how to track a run. As has already been said, it wasn't just the misplaced passes but the fact he didn't chase back to catch the resultant break from his squandered possession. Hopefully he can be coached to eliminate this from his game.

Like a baby Bobo. Strong, wins headers and tackles, uncomfortable passing out of defence. Rusty after two years doing very little at City, will improve greatly with games. He'll score a good few too.

Agree with this.

If he's sandwiched between Lustig and VVD with Bitton in front, then his distribution will be made easier. Unfortunately, for various reasons, it's unlikely that'll be the case this season.

He's a guy who really doesn't have much in the way of first team experience and it shows. With more games the amount of mistakes he makes should decrease but we have to accept he's going to make errors. Hopefully they won't be too costly.

He's not a ball-player, that's for sure. Strong in the tackle though. Think he'll do well for us.
Unfortunately that will probably be after he effs up in cl qualifier

The risk with loan signings is they take their time to prove themselves to their owners

Do you think man city will give a flying one if he costs us qualification on Wednesday due to his bloody laziness

Bobo was aided greatly by having Dolph and Joos around him - in a pairing with Efe I wouldnt be too sure

I think he'll be decent. Van Dijk was quite shaky too when he first signed, if I remember correctly.

Still early days, have no concerns over his physical ability, the lad is absolute powerhouse. The problem is his concentration, he needs to stay switched on at all times.
