Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Let's see how he does v England. That's all we heard from his detractors. Now you are moving the goal posts again. Belgium have other defenders btw. At least one Belgian based player had Boyata down is missing out on the full squad. He is in the team on merit. Guys like you are sitting by the tele hoping that Boyata makes a mistake. It is transparent.
Have no idea where you manufactured all this pish from. I said he has lapses in concentration. You responded to it making out you disagreed, but you were actually agreeing. You said he was first choice for Belgium as a central defender. We all know he's fourth choice and currently in because Kompany is injured/returning from injury. Why the eff would I want him to make a mistake? I'm delighted at Boyata's World Cup form and hope it maximises his value for a move out given he's got 12 months left on his contract at Celtic. On a personal level, I hope he plays well in every game and they get to the final. I'd stopped posting regularly on this board for a couple of years. Guys like you making up pish remind me why. Good you stopped posting. The board is better off without people like yourself who form an opinion & stick to it no matter what.
You were wrong about Boyata.
A few of us have always rated him. He's been excellent under Rodgers & he was nowhere near as bad as people made out when Delia was in charge.
Now you can think what you want to think & say what you want to say but it''s obvious that Boyata is a far better player than the one your describing.

BR re Boyata (from STV) -
"I've been delighted for all four guys that have been at the World Cup," he told STV. "They gain an incredible experience and it might only be a once in a lifetime experience.
"With Mika and Dedryck going through to the next stage, it's brilliant for them."
"I was really proud watching Dedryck last night. He looked a top class operator."
Belgium have progressed to play Japan in the last 16 after topping their group and Rodgers said that Boyata's performance in the 1-0 win against England showed the world how good a player he is.
"He's playing in a highly gifted team but he's played three games now, three 90 minutes and the team have had three wins," he said.
"I thought last night up against Jamie Vary and Marcus Rashford, who are outstanding players individually and as a pair, he coped with it very, very well.
"He showed all the qualities that I believe he has in terms of pace and power and strength. He's good in the air and he showed last night that his passing is very good as well."

He's going to sign a new contract that represents his talent and his worth and we will continue to have a very miserly defence as we motor towards 8 in a row,

How about those of us with eyes that see his catalogue of errors on the park, are we allowed to criticise Boyata? That hyperbolic language doesn't fly with me. Why are you so desperate to play up the player's flaws? "Catalogue of errors"? It's kind of like you are trying to exaggerate the number of mistakes. I just find it weird that a Celtic fan would react to one of our centre backs playing England off the park by talking like that.
I mean, even though you hate him, it must be obvious that his value has gone through the roof with 3 outstanding performances in the biggest stage on Earth. That likely means tens of millions more into our transfer kitty, which is already booming!
Get on the Dedryck train to £££££MILLIONS£££££
We will pick up £20M for the big lad.

We have players all over the park who have lapses in concentration. Forwards don't close down or miss easy chances, midfielders don't track runners or make poor passes. Boyatas every mistake is highlighted and scrutinised. Its more obvious at the back.
He is still our best centre half, best in the air, fastest and strongest. Give the guy a effing break. Not referring to any individual posters but him and lustig get pelters off fans , not just on this board. I just think they have served the club well and deserve a bit of respect.

How can anyone have rated Boyata under Ronny? Fair enough Brendan knew he was a rough diamond from his time down South, but it's not like he showed even a small glimpse of it in his first season. I'll never properly warm to the the guy, but his progress under BR has been phenomenal.

There also has to be an acknowledgement that:
- succession planning is badly needed for Lustig, if it isn't there already, and
- if Boyata doesn't sign again this summer he has to GTF
That isn't being disrespectful to either player, its protecting the interests of the club.

He shouldn’t have played at Ibrox and took a few games to rediscover his form but he finished the season very strongly and has continued that form into the WC.

I'll never properly warm to the the guy, but his progress under BR has been phenomenal. Boyata had only made about 30 appearances in 5 or 6 years before joining the club.
He’s been worth persevering with, but not irreplaceable.
