I reckon he'll go now that his stock and his profile is as high as it's ever likely to be.

A year left on his deal? Depends which cash rich side is desperate for a quality centre back who has the occasional brain fart.

£7m for Boyata

Does anyone seriously think Celtic could replace a 27-year old, athletic, fast and tall central defender with Champions League experience and 10 caps for the 3rd best ranked international team (with 3 of those caps earned at the 2018 World Cup), for £7m ? :ponder:

Email your suggestions to Brendan.Rodgers. HereFor10inarow@celticfc.net
We replaced VVD for 1.5m or whatever it was for Boyata. So, possibly. Or possibly not.

On the other hand, if he keeps his place in a team which does extremely well in the World Cup, and who counts as homegrown for the EPL, we may well get considerably more than £7m.

Is there actually a bid or just someone on here said that £7m would be ok?

Remy Martin and his lickspittles gave the deal the green light.

Looked solid in the centre of the back 3 then they put Kompany in the centre and moved Boyata to the left side, even at that i think he only got skinned once.

This obsession with with focusing on a player's mistakes drives me mental; every player makes them, even the best - including Celtic legends. AFAIC too many people are happy to buy into the media presentation of our players.

I think Boyata was made the scapegoat last season for circumstances outwith his control; for a variety of reasons we didn't play a settled back four for much of the season, and then he himself was injured, but was expected by some to be stellar in every game on his return.

I will leave the judgment on the player up to the manager, whatever he decides.

His CV will never be better - double treble, pristine World Cup - sell now for any offer greater than £5m. Decent defender, just doesn’t quite fit into BR’s Celtic

That was the fee quoted in the press when Lazio were supposedly interested (interest later denied on Football Italia).

The Italian press is worse than ours when it comes to rumours. They have us in for some carrot worth about €10m every window.

£22 million for nobody shot James Maddison.

Keep him unless £10 million bid comes in. We can't undervalue players even in their last year

I've been impressed with him over the 3 games. Don't know if it's because he's getting more to do in the games that means he just concentrates on defending, or if he's a better defender with better players around him?

Whatever way, I'm sure he'll be attracting admiring glances and our resolve will be tested.

The greatest captain in our history had a mistake that was almost a replica of Boyata's at Ipox to put us out of a European Cup qf against AC Milan, the eventual winners. He followed that up with a absolute mare against Feyenoord in the final two years later. You are correct -- all players make mistakes. It depends on how popular they are as to how long fans hold it against them.

Boyata isn't young in years but he is in experience. He is now playing at the highest level. If he does go, we should be looking for a lot more than seven effin million! :brickwall:

A defender playing for the top ranked Euro team in the W.C for less than £10m?

F**k off.

Absolutely strolled it so far.

Clearly the World Cup is a lower level than the Champions League. :ph43r:

More clean sheets this world cup than Pique, Otamendi, Hummels and Stones combined, we want 15 million and not a penny less :boxer:

He's a perfect fit for our system. The best centre half in the world would occasionally be left stranded the way we play.

The confidence boost he'll get from the World Cup will help massively as well.
